[2v8 / Queue Suggestion] Add an "Are you still there?" Ready Check to prevent AFK Killers
Hi everyone,
With the massive queue times for the Killer role (especially in the 2v8 mode, where wait times can easily reach 30 minutes), we are facing a very frustrating issue. Because the queue takes so long, many players naturally alt-tab, walk away from their computers, or simply forget they were in queue.
When the match finally loads, one of the Killers turns out to be completely AFK for the entire trial. This ruins the game instantly. In a 2v8 scenario, a single Killer stands absolutely no chance against 8 Survivors. It is incredibly demoralizing to wait 30 minutes in queue just to have the match ruined by an absent teammate.
My Suggestion: The "Ready Check" Mechanism
To fix this, BHVR should implement an automatic activity check during long queues:
- How it would work: Every 10–15 minutes spent in queue (or right when a lobby is found), a pop-up window should appear asking: "Are you still there?" or "Match Found! Press Ready".
- The Action: The player must click a "Yes" / "Ready" button within a reasonable timeframe (e.g., 30–60 seconds).
- The Outcome: If the player fails to respond, they are automatically kicked from the queue. This ensures that only active, present players are placed into the actual match.
Why this benefits the game:
- Saves time for active players: No more wasting 30 minutes of waiting followed by a 10-minute lost match.
- Healthier matches: It guarantees that both Killers in 2v8 are ready to play from second one.
- Industry standard: Many other multiplayer games with long queues use this system successfully to maintain match quality.
Waiting 30 minutes to play Killer is acceptable if the match is fair, but waiting 30 minutes to play a 1v8 is a terrible experience. Please consider adding a simple confirmation check before throwing players into a trial!
