We’ve gone way past ‘slowdown’ with gen regression.

Slowdown perks are fine in theory, but this isn’t just slowdown anymore. When killers stack multiple regression perks, it stops being about managing generators and starts being about constantly deleting progress with almost no real effort. It doesn’t feel balanced, it just feels excessive and honestly kind of lazy in terms of how it plays out.

In most matches, progress barely sticks at all. You can spend a long time working on a generator, hit multiple skill checks, actually commit to it, and then get forced off once and lose a huge portion of that progress almost instantly. Then it just keeps happening for the entire match. You go back, try to finish it, get pushed off again, and it’s gone again. At that point it doesn’t even feel like you’re playing toward an objective anymore, it feels like you’re stuck in a loop redoing the same generator while it keeps getting reset over and over.

That completely ruins pacing. Matches don’t feel tense or strategic, they just feel dragged out for no real reason. There’s a clear difference between slowing the game down in a meaningful way and just stalling it, and right now it leans heavily toward stalling. You can be in a match for a long time and still have almost nothing done, not because of strong killer play or good chases, but because regression perks keep undoing everything you do.

Solo queue makes this even worse, which people constantly downplay. There’s no coordination, no reliable communication, and no way to consistently play around stacked regression. So these perks get even more value for free. One teammate goes down too fast, someone lets go of a gen at the wrong time, or people don’t split pressure properly, and suddenly all progress is gone. Trying to recover from that while multiple regression perks are constantly ticking just feels pointless most of the time.

And the effort required on the killer side just doesn’t match the value they get. Killers don’t need to do anything particularly impressive or risky. They can apply basic pressure, kick gens, rotate between a few objectives, and let the perks do most of the work. There’s barely any meaningful tradeoff. Meanwhile survivors are the ones who have to keep investing time over and over just to try to hold onto progress that can disappear in seconds if they get forced off.

It also pushes the gameplay in a direction that just isn’t fun. Instead of matches being focused on chases, mindgames, and actual interaction, a lot of games turn into repetitive gen kicking and passive regression doing the heavy lifting. It might be effective, but it’s not engaging to play against and it definitely doesn’t feel rewarding.

Another problem is how safe it is to run multiple regression perks. There’s basically no downside to stacking them, and they scale way too well together. Individually, some of these perks would probably be fine, but when you combine them, the amount of regression becomes unreasonable. It stops feeling like counterplay exists and starts feeling like you’re just delaying the inevitable.

At that point, the match doesn’t feel like it’s being decided by skill or decision making. It feels like it’s being decided by how much regression is stacked and how often survivors are forced off generators. That’s not a good feeling, especially when you’re putting in time and getting nothing back for it.

It also creates this weird situation where committing to gens feels bad. You’re supposed to do objectives, but when you know your progress can be wiped that easily, it makes every decision feel worse. Either you stay and risk going down, or you leave and lose everything anyway. Neither option feels good, and that’s a problem.

Stacking regression perks is just too strong for how little downside there is. It creates matches where survivors are constantly trying to recover instead of actually getting anything done, and that’s not a healthy state for the game long term.

  • I play solo queue as well but I hard disagree with this.

Coming from someone who plays both sides generator regression may feel a bit much but they are absolutely necessary in matches where survivors run Toolboxes, Fast Track, etc, plus certain maps or even playing a weaker killer can jeopardize you by quite a bit, generators go by flying and generator regression is a necessity these days, if the survivors your up against know what they are doing, your going to have a hard time, most generator regression perks require hooks like Pain Res or Pop Goes The Weasel, and if your kept in chase for a while especially by a good looper, thats an opportunity to get generators done.

They are absolutely fine and necessary.
