Simplify Friend Addition — Fix Steam Limitations in DBD
Hello, Behaviour Interactive team!
I’d like to suggest an improvement to the in‑game friend addition system in Dead by Daylight. Currently, there are significant usability issues for Steam players when trying to add friends directly within the game.
Here’s a breakdown of the problems:
- Inability to add Steam friends in‑game. Steam users can find each other via search, but cannot add each other directly through the in‑game friends interface. This forces players to use external methods to establish a connection, which is inconvenient
- Delayed sync after adding via Steam. Even after successfully adding a friend through the Steam client, the friend does not immediately appear in the in‑game friends list. Players often need to restart the game 3–4 times before the friend shows up.
- Unintended cross‑platform quirk. The only scenario where Steam users can add friends in‑game is when those friends are on other platforms (e.g., PlayStation, Xbox, etc.). This inconsistency is confusing and feels like an oversight.
Suggested improvements:
- Enable direct in‑game addition of Steam friends without requiring external tools.
- Ensure real‑time or near‑real‑time sync of the friends list after adding someone (no need to restart the game).
- Make the friend addition experience consistent across all platforms and connection types — whether players are on the same platform or different ones.
Addressing these issues will improve the overall user experience by making friend management more reliable and intuitive within the game.
Thank you for considering this suggestion. I believe it would benefit the entire community!
Best regards,
