Add a small trade-off for “free look” while repairing gens (information vs progress)
Hi! I’d like to suggest a simple mechanic aimed at balancing generator pacing and, more specifically, the amount of free information survivors get while repairing.
Right now, a survivor can repair a generator while freely rotating the camera and checking 360° with no downside. This effectively lets them keep full repair efficiency and maintain constant awareness of the killer’s approach. In practice, survivors get progress + information at the same time, with no meaningful trade-off, which makes it harder for killers to create pressure without relying heavily on perks.
Suggestion: when a survivor is repairing and rotates the camera away from the generator beyond a certain angle / for a short continuous duration, apply a small, temporary drawback, such as:
- a slight repair speed reduction while “looking away”; or
- slightly harder / more frequent skill checks while “looking away”; or
- a brief “refocus” period where efficiency ramps back up once they look back at the gen.
Goal: introduce a healthy trade-off: you can scout your surroundings, but you shouldn’t repair at full efficiency while not focused on the task. Even a subtle penalty would add decision-making, increase the value of timing/positioning/team info, and give killers more realistic windows to apply pressure without making survivor gameplay feel unfair.
This doesn’t need to be a harsh punishment—just enough to create meaningful choice.

Heya, that small temporary drawback is missing skill checks. Survivors can’t look around freely all the time because they have to hit skill checks. It’s also really hard for them stay focused if there’s a stealth killer and no one is in chase
This isn't smart idea at all.
Can't punish people for playing the game - this is absurd
