Conviction also activates after only finishing a heal, even when that heal is short
SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE:
Not sure if this is intentional or not, but all you need to do to activate Conviction for the first time is, finish a heal on some one, no matter how much or little you heal, the perk activates and you can use it, as shown in the video below.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED:
Wait until someone is almost done healing him/herself or wait until the last few slivers while you join in, co-op healing someone as shown in the video below, then finish the heal and Conviction activates, allowing you to use the perk after.
