The Blood Moon event in 2025 kind of sucks, and here's why...

For the Blood Moon event of 2025, we were all excited to see what new, fun game mechanics were added to Dead by Daylight, to make generators for both Survivor and Killer a bit more interactive, fun, balanced, and overall, satisfying to play. As for the first week of playing the Blood Moon event as Survivor, the gameplay was a lot of fun, as there were new ways to interact with Blood Generators and filling up the Blood Cans to repair Blood Generators. But as time went on, past the first week, the gameplay felt rather repetitive, boring, and unbalanced for the Killer and Survivor.

As for the Survivors, finding Blood pumps was a little bit hard at times, and Survivors being able to fill up the Blood Generators way too quickly, whether it's doing it alone, or having teammates help you, felt like an unfair advantage towards the Killer. Not only that, but at the start of the game, there were no stations or certain pick-up areas to pick up the Blood Cans from. The Blood Cans spawned right from the moment you interacted with the Blood Pump. Which, in a way, doesn't give the Killer enough time or effort to apply pressure against the Survivors, as there is no impact for losing the Blood Can or having the Blood Can half depleted, as you can just go to the Blood Pump to refill the Can again.

As for the Killer, it's even worse, there is not much gameplay interaction to be had at all. It's basically playing Killer as per normal, but with not many ways to interact with Blood Pumps, Blood Generators, or Blood Cans. For example: Downing a Survivor who is holding a Blood Can, won't let them drop it, or even empty out at least a quarter or half a Can full of blood. Instead, Survivors are crawling with the Blood Can in their hand. Which makes no sense whatsoever.

So, here's what I would do to change this up, and make it more interesting:

  • I see this is a W.I.P.

    Anyway...

I think the new mechanics introduced in Blood Moon were very interesting and worth revisiting.

Some adjustments were needed, and the old Blood Basins should've come back, but overall it could be a great event.
