Devs, will you ever do anything to help Ghostface not have one of the lowest kill rates in the game?
I don't want to complain. I really do love my stalky boy just the way he is and do think he's balanced overall. But it doesn't seem fair to me that while Doctor is getting tons and tons of buffs over the past year or so to help his kill rate, Ghostface stays at the lowest killrate hovering around a 53-56% on average. This doesn't seem right that he has a similar Killrate to Nurse who does NOT need buffs because of her strength, do the Devs truly think he is as strong as Nurse to warrant only minor QoL?
Ghostface is really not built as an M1 for some of these maps and it shows, he has some outdated mechanics yes, and frankly it's clear Reveal needs some looking at again (for both him and Unknown) since it always seems to break every other patch. It's either too sensitive, or not sensitive enough.
Ghostface is a popular Killer. A lot of people play this Killer. He's one of the most beloved Killers in the Fog and a favorite licensed Killer in general with his own unique lore. More people would play him if he just had some sort of little buff, but a lot of people do not due to the perception he is weak.
He has at least two addons - Lasting Perfume and Chewed Pen - that do nothing but promote camping playstyles which are unfun, and outdated with many of the changes coming. I know he just got QoL last year, but surely there's something that we could do to make him just a bit more balanced and less prone to unfair things like being revealed through walls that you shouldn't be seen through at all?
He's far from the first Killer in need of help or buffs, but surely, surely the Devs don't want him to be considered such a bottom of the barrel Killer, right? His low Kill Rates aren't all just due to people playing friendly with him either, it doesn't seem like that data would even be counted. So why hasn't he gotten any sort of looking at again yet, is it because he's back of the list for any changes, or do the Devs really think he's in a strong state and needs no buffs or help?
If given tweaks, what sort of tweaks could we give him to improve him? What would help improve this Killer's Kill Rates towards the 60% target BHVR aims for? Does he even NEED to be closer to 60%? Let's discuss.

It's hard to say. I feel like he needs a buff but the stats sometimes say otherwise. We need new official stats from DBD honestly. According to DBD's last official stats Ghost Face has a higher kill rate than Huntress at Top 5% and General MMR. People were outraged when Huntress got buffed and they will probably be outraged if Ghosty gets buffed.
Do you have any ideas for buffs for him?
Ghostface is the kind of killer that you can't exactly do a whole lot with. I don't see his add-ons getting updated anytime soon so that's out. Realistically his reveal mechanic is one of the only things thwy can adjust since anything else would only be number changes.
My idea would be to add more effects to survivors being marked. Some of his add-ons already do this but it's still lackluster. Unfortunately a lot of his add-ons already have these affects with some of then being oriented towards him being revealed. Maybe give Ghostface better fault speed and faster pallet break when chasing a marked survivor. Otherwise there isn't a lot to do to make Ghostface more affective.
He's consistently seen as a high C to low B tier, it seems odd that this iconic Killer is graded as so weak. Here's some of what they could change:
This is all I think stuff they could address. Not all of it necessarily but at least some. Most of these are wishlist ideas of stuff they could change Ghostface does not need much, but he could stand a little help I think. Now, they don't HAVE to address it, he is okay right now and balanced. But he does feel like he needs… something. Just something. At least a Reveal fix and some map traversal help.
I like these ideas. What if something Hindered Survivors on Marks? What about something to make them scream or for info? What about something similar to Myers' Mirror shards or Vanity mirror that does aura reveal on partially Marked Survivors? Something that Exhausts or hinders those who Reveal him close by, or something that punishes following him around/standing as a scout to Reveal him?
I mentioned Chewed Pen and Lasting Perfume, both of which promote camping hooks and camping slugs. That's not healthy. The Devs clearly want to orient towards more info and more chase, which is good in my opinion. Ghostface has the info but he doesn't really have the chase.
And would it maybe really be too much to hide his red stain from a Marked Surv entirely? Why doesn't that even happen?
he got add-on rework on legion update and then they lowered his cooldown + buffed his crouching speed in another update. He got 2 QOL updates. Doctor got his range and detonation base-kit which was his first QOL. His second QOL is static blast.
They're equal in number of updates. 2 for 2. Doctor still has a bunch of add-on that realistically produce low value for madness. Calm madness doesn't do a whole lot, Order add-on are as laughable as freddy fake pallets, Restraint feels like it should be a base-kit effect+aura doesn't do much. the premise of doctor is suppose to be that you have madness and you get pick madness effect that correspond to some kind of build or play-style but these effect don't really corresponding to a build or play-style.
With how it is now, those Cater notes are rarely used for their madness application and are only used for base stat increases that all arguably could be base-kit and they wouldn't make doctor over-perform.
Ghostface suffers from a simple idea that has low kit expansion. It is like opposite to what new killers are. Vecna and Dark lord are killer with many abilities therefore many functionalities. This also applies to Knight, Skull merchant, Pinhead, Wesker so on and so on. people argue these killer have too many functionalities where as Ghostface has legit opposite problem. he has such simple power that there is almost nothing to buff or expand and player doesn't have much skill expression to utilize.
As a result, Ghostface will likely always be a low-tier killer unless he receives extra powers and functionalities to his arsenal. It is like comparing Old Mundo in league of legends that is stat-stick vs New Mundo is league. League for example will update outdated old characters and attempt to add new dimensions to a character other than "stat-stick to win". DBD on other hand doesn't do that. they'll rework character and improve numbers to call them reworks but really all they're doing is buffing numbers. It is kinda weird. you would think buffing killers or even weaken killer would be simple process but it is not and it is very complicate one in dbd.
Full-on reworks should be complicated but they rarely ever occur. a lot of the time, they don't need to occur but for someone like GF, he might be candidate for it. Freddy might be candiate for it as well. we'll see where freddy goes.
I could certainly see a partial power rework, what do you think they should add for that?
