Using Plot Twist cause emblem loss

I don't know if this is intentional or bug? I always thought that losing a whole emblem just because you get downed at the exit gate without even being hooked once is unfair, but losing an emblem for a perk seems ridiculous. I just wonder if downing yourself to activates this perk accidentally cause a loss on survival emblem or is this a bug?
