[Suggestion] Crafting and Gathering System

Introduction

Each realm could have their own materials that you could gather whilst in a match. For survivors, they'd have to interact with plants, minerals, scrap piles, etc... for around 10 seconds to obtain them. There would be an abundance of materials on each realm so that all survivors would have a chance of obtaining materials. In order for survivors to then take those materials back to the lobby, they'd have to escape by any means. If you're playing as the killer, any time you kill a survivor, those materials would be transferred over to you.

When you're back in the lobby, you'd then have access to a crafting menu, where you could use different materials obtained from different realms to craft a new special rarity of addons. These addons would have a significant difference from the normal addons.

Materials

As previously mentioned, materials would be bound to specific realms. Here's a few examples of the different materials you would be able to obtain within different realms;

The MacMillan Estate - coal fragments from coal deposits

Autohaven Wreckers - scrap fragments from scrap piles

Red Forest - ointment fragments from plants

Dvarka Deepwood - putrid serum from blight plants

The interaction for all of these new fragments would be the same as the putrid serum from the hallowed blight event.

It would take around 10 seconds for survivors to extract fragments, which would vary from 2-4 fragments per material deposit. In the future, there could be offerings that increase the amount of fragments the players could get from each deposit.

Crafting

When in the main menu, a crafting menu would be available for both survivor and killer roles. Here are a few examples of what a survivor would be able to craft within the menu;

Flashlights

Long Life Battery - This addon usually increases battery life by +6 seconds. Instead, the player would be able to craft;

Exceptional Life Battery - This would increase battery life by +10 seconds.

Crafting materials required; scraps from autohaven wreckers, coal fragments from macmillan estate

Med-Kits

Abdominal Dressing - This addon usually increases the speed at which you're healed by +15%. Instead, the player would be able to craft;

Exceptional Abdominal Dressing - This would increase the speed by +20%.

Crafting materials required; ointment fragments from red forest, medical containers from lery's memorial institute

These might not be the best examples but the idea is still there. Generally, just having the ability to craft better versions of the addons that already exist. This would be the same for crafting as the killer.

Breakdown

Initially, I was going to suggest implementing new addons altogether with this new crafting system. Although it would add a big chunk of development time to the whole feature. Plus, I believe that enhanced addons are still a great addition to the game. It's nothing too game breaking, and wouldn't require heavy balancing either.

Also, the material gathering would be non-invasive. These material deposits would be somewhat small and out of the way. It wouldn't be a feature that would necessarily change the flow of the matches either. As it's all dependent on survivors' priorities. If the game is going well for the killer, survivors will naturally focus on gens and saving. If the game is going well for the survivors, the survivors will naturally use spare time to gather resources. As for the killers point of view, material gathering will potentially reduce scenarios where survivors get slugged and downed right at the start of the match.. as the killer will now have another incentive to keep the survivors alive long enough to take resources from them.

Having each realm have it's own materials would also increase the importance of using map offerings. It would no longer be a "i'm a hillbilly, I want an outdoor map so it's easier for me to down people" kind of scenario. Players would use offerings for materials that they need in order to craft certain addons.

To wrap it up, I think this idea would add a necessary layer of fun to the game. Would make it so survivors have another goal in the game, so naturally there would be less gen rushing, whilst still adding a lot of high risk, high reward play to each match. Both rolls (survivor/killer) would benefit from this system and if the animations, deposits and UI are done correctly, it could be something addicting to use throughout our dbd matches.
