Singularity - The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
The Good:
- Amazing visual and audio design. The art team, as expect, does an amazing job bringing these characters to the game and having them be visually appealing. Even Hux's common/uncommon outfits look really nice since Hux's base design is really good.
- The power is fun to work with when it actually works as intended. There are bugs, that is expect, but there are also other factors that influence his power, that will later be elaborated.
- Potential to be a high-tier Killer, that is fun for both sides.
- Very interactive power, bringing ways of playing and counterplaying for both sides. EMPs, despite being in what I consider to be an unbalanced state, are clear and effective counterplay to Hux.
The Bad:
- Hux's power can sometimes feel really inconsistent, since his power is very map-based. Having a power that is map-based isnt too bad but when paired with their other weaknesses, it feels like Hux can use some tuning to help with this, similar to how Dredge got more lockers added to maps to make his power more consistent.
- Power's description does not cover Hux's entire power and how it fundamentally works, leading to a lot of frustration for players who have no prior knowledge of how Hux's power works. Things must be clearly defined within the game and people should not rely on external sources to understand how to play a character.
The Ugly:
- EMPs... for a character designed around "causing disruption around altruism" this Killer surely rewards altruism. EMPs can effect multiple Survivors leading to a gameplay loop where another teammate follows the chase, collecting EMPs, to effectively deny you your power in chase.
- Due to EMPs being so effective in chase, the Killer basically becomes another 3-gen Killer, leading to boring gameplay in 50% of matches, but even then, when it comes to the 3-gen playstyle, Hux is weaker than other Killers who specialize in it, leading to this area where Hux does effectively fit anywhere.
Analysis:
- Hux is a good and fun Killer, but they need a bit more improvements to really feel consistent. EMPs also need to be looked at again since it feels like Hux is powerless at times, I have a number of different solutions to this that could help Hux's gameplay a bit but that is a different post to make for a different time.
