The bad definitely outweighs the good
I like a few things included in this update (I.e. map reworks, visual terror radius, bloodweb improvements, etc.)
However, the bad definitely outweighs the good. Even as a killer main, survivor is going to be unplayable, and we are going to see decreasing numbers of survivor players. I am okay with the 3 gen gen-kicking meta being nerfed for the health of the game, but nerfing healing in general is extremely unhealthy for the game. While self-healing can be extraordinarily fast in certain circumstances and may need a slight nerf, altruistic healing does NOT need a nerf. Healing against perks such as sloppy butcher, gift of pain, or other add-ons that cause mangled/hemorrhage will take about half the time a generator would take. I would honestly rather see generator times go from 90 to 100 seconds rather than extending healing time. I am happy with slowdown being nerfed in this update, but gen progression needs to as well for balance.
Also, it is insane that nurse has received two indirect buffs, but Billy received multiple direct nerfs. Billy is one of the most fun killers to play as and against, and the fact that he’s been nerfed is ridiculous. He’s barely chosen, and in the instances he is it takes a lot of skill to play him successfully. The decreased turn speed also directly impacts controller players, and worsens their experiences. His speed nerf is atrocious, and the overheat needs to be either heavily modified or removed, as survivors are able to counterplay a hillBilly who is trigger-happy with his chainsaw. Nobody complained about Billy being overpowered since 2016 or so.
A small complaint as well, but the nerf to hag is not great either. While this allows more counterplay for survivors, I believe the nerf will make it harder for new hag players to get solid results. Even at higher ranks, hag needs her traps as she’s a 4.4 m/s killer. I feel even with the lightburn mechanic being removed, there is enough counter play to warrant getting rid of the manual trap removal.
Regarding COH and deadhard, they are honestly the lowest priority or concern I have with the update. Circle of healing did need a nerf, but I would be okay with it being a boon slightly faster than self care, or maybe a token system where survivors altogether get only 2-3 tokens to set up a boon per trial. This would allow for more strategic play as survivors would have to find a good spot, and can’t just spam boons. As for deadhard, I feel the nerf was too much. While I hated going against it in the upper ranks, making it based off of unhooking was a bit too far, especially as you still have to time it. Personally I would be okay with it having a lengthier exhaustion time, or being unable to deadhard at pallets as it provides no counterplay for a killer.
I am hopeful that these unhealthy changes made in this PTB will be reverted as they are severely unhealthy for both killers and survivors, and will lead to less fun games on both sides.
