PTB 6.7.0 Feedback
Hi,
First things first, thank you to the dev team for introducing new patches in somewhat frequent fashion. I've played games in the past that never introduce anything new or try to shake up the game in any way. It is always a welcomed and interesting thing to see new changes come in. I think that this game in particular has a big divide between survivors and killers, and each want to see certain balance changes come to light in order to make a better experience.
In regards to PTB patch 6.7.0, I believe that a lot of the changes hit the right mark, but a few have somewhat missed the actual issue, in my opinion. It is clear to anyone that plays a lot of the game, that as of late, two main points have come up in this patch .
- Healing - Survivors have a lot of options to heal, whether that be through medkits, perks, or just basekit with help from others. In doing so, it generates slowdown for the killer, and a reset for survivors. The issue with healing as of late is not primarily from perks or basekit, but rather from medkits. The medkit pass that was introduced in this patch is very beneficial I think. Survivors could take a hit, leave chase and heal up, all within 10 seconds, given they have a good medkit. I think that nerfing basekit healing does not hit the issue. In order for survivors to heal, they need to leave objectives in order to help each other. This in turn generates sufficient slowdown for the killer, without feeling oppressive to the survivors. This concept, in my opinion, is beneficial for the game. Currently, survivors can just heal themselves in 10 seconds, while others work on gens, barely losing any time. It is important to understand, it is not often that survivors use medkits to heal others. Self healing is where the main issue lies. If these current changes go through, killers can run Sloppy Butcher, Coulrophobia, and other healing slowdown perks, and cause survivors to take much too long to heal. This in turn removes a lot of the counterplay for survivors, in my opinion.
- Addons/Killer Changes - A lot of the changes in these sections are entirely placebo, and barely (if at all) change the experience for the killer. For example, the Oni change. We understand that these addons probably fall at the bottom of the barrel in terms of usage, but that is for a specific reason. It is not the numbers of the addons themselves, but rather their effect. They just are not useful. It is not often that Oni players would hold their hand out to collect blood for extended periods of times. Rather than giving them a small, but meaningless buff, It would be more beneficial to rework them entirely. I am no game designer, but perhaps an addon that could let Oni collect from a larger range, or cast his power quicker. Maybe one that upped his FOV during his power. Either way, the main point is these addons do not have low usage due to their numbers being low, but their effect. The main change that should not go through is the Billy Addon nerf. Billy, as it is, is one of the lowest picked killers in the game. He has a need for an incredibly high skill level in order to get value. We as the community again understand that they are being nerfed because in the data their numbers of usage is high. This is not because they are oppressive. This is because these addons change the style in which Billy is played, and therefore create a unique and fun experience for the killer. To be honest, Billy should be receiving changes that incentivize players to pick him. As of now, nobody really plays him, and with these changes, even less people will.
Thank you for reading this far if you have. None of this feedback should be received in a negative fashion, but rather one that has been critically thought up, and backed up with some experience. Community feedback is incredibly important in game balance, and I thank you for giving us the opportunity to give that.
