Can't hear Hatch

I've noticed that lately the hatch is nearly silent. Even when I'm looking right at it I sometimes don't hear it. This happens whether I'm wearing headphones or using the TV speakers. Headphones used to be somewhat helpful for finding the Hatch, but now they're useless. It makes it damn near impossible to find the thing, especially when there's grass on the ground that visually obscures it.

I can't hear it if it's on the other side of a wall, on the other side of a little log, or a yard in front of me with no line-of-sight blockers.
