Why do edits need to be approved now?

I was just about to post a gamemode idea but realized after I posted it that the stupid lines for the italics didn't do ######### and looked stupid because they showed up on the actual post. So I went to edit them out and save it but now it isn't showing up in the General Discussions. WTH?

I went to edit out those lines that make the font italic from a post I had just posted and when I went to save it so it would be reposted with the changes in place, it said “Please wait for the changes to be approved”
