Original maps as an alternative

Since the first release of the game the maps have undergone significant adjustments, for balancing needs, to avoid infinite loops or because they were excessively large. The work of dozens of artists is therefore forgotten, buried by the many successive alterations, the older versions of the current maps are unattainable, and those who were fond of them or would have the curiosity to try them cannot do it.

Could not the entire discarded or reworked material be made available to the Community, at least in the context of private matches (KYF)? In order not to weigh down the game, the Devs could enclose the archive of antiquities in an optional patch, for the enthusiasts who, perhaps, wish to revisit the old swamps...

Would be awesome to play the old versions in kyf
  • Since the game has went thruogh a lot of changes (engine for example), it would require a lot of work to bring the old versions of the map (if they saved them at all) up to a playable version.

All this effort for an unbalanced experienced in kyf? Well I doubt that BHVR will do that

  • @Master I'm not speaking about restoring the old graphic engine or other difficult things. I simply ask that the files stored in their servers are taken from dusty hard disks and made available to anyone who wants to enjoy them, without costs or additional work, but published as they are: copy and paste, nothing less, nothing more.

But those old files might not be compatible with the current game anymore, thats what im talking about.
Imagine putting an old floppy disk into a modern laptop (which doesnt even have a CD drive anymore)

Also there is a lot more behind that since maps are actually created "procedurally" and the alogirthms have changed a lot

  • It would be cool to play in old version of maps.

Except the old swamp. F**k that map.

  • @Master The game is not ten years old, but maybe you are right. The Devs know if it's possible or not: I only threw an idea.
