Is there a trick I'm missing for hiding in a snowman as Killer?

Survivor main here. Recently tried playing some Killer matches. I got in a Snowman as Oni, saw some frosty looking animation around the screen, and then it just instantly went away. Is there a special trick to hiding in the snowmen as a Killer?

if you jump in one as killer you become undetectable the effects go away when you attack that's it.

After entering the snowman, the frost almost instantly faded away, literally about two seconds after getting in. So I figured that meant I was out of the snowman. I didn't attack or swing either.
