A way to make the Legion more fun
Let's face it, The Legion is a hot steaming pile of garbage as far as viablility goes. The design aspect? Amazing. A bit disapointing that they didn't integrate multiple killers in the match at once, but the look, backstory, and new map are all pretty neat as far as design goes. (Suzie best girl???) This being said, If The Legion was fun, we would be looking at an amazing chapter. I did some thinking about what exactly could be tweaked to improve not only the performance but the "fun factor" of the killer. Here is what I came up with:
MODIFIED KILLER POWER
The Legion has a Frenzy power gauge that builds up over time. The power, Feral Frenzy, can be activated by tapping the Power button. While active, the power gauge drains rapidly and the power ends when the gauge is empty.
When activating Feral Frenzy, The Legion enters a deadly rage. While the power is active:
- The Legion sprints faster than base movement speed.
- The Legion can vault pallets but cannot break them.
- Window vault speed is increased.
- Survivors' scratch marks are hidden from The Killer's view.
- The Legion adopts "tunnel vision" which greatly reduces his field of view.
- Missed attacks have a reduced cooldown.
While Feral Frenzy is active, hitting a Survivor who is not currently afflicted with the Deep Wound status effect:
- Applies the Deep Wound status effect.
- Injures the Survivor, if they are not already injured.
- Refills The Killer's entire power gauge.
- Triggers "Killer Instinct", revealing the location of all Survivors who do not have the Deep Wound status effect applied and are within The Killer's terror radius.
- Enables an extended cooldown that takes effect once the power gauge is empty.
While Feral Frenzy is active, hitting a Survivor who is currently afflicted with the Deep Wound status effect:
- Reduces a portion of the Survivor's Deep Wound bleed-out timer.
- Depletes The Killer's entire power gauge and ends the power immediately.
-NOTE: Hitting a Survivor with a basic attack while Feral Frenzy is not active will deplete The Killer's entire power gauge.
So, as we can see here, a few additions and moving things around yeild a MUCH stronger and more fun killer. These changes make Legion a more tactical killer. You can use this power to down OR apply deep wound, whatever is more valuable at the moment. Here is what I changed and why I did it.
- Window vault speed is increased. - This doesn't change anything. It just keeps The Legion's power consistent with what he actually does in the game. (This line is not in his power to begin with. Without this addition, one may think that he still slow vaults windows, which is incorrect.)
- The Legion adopts "tunnel vision" which greatly reduces his field of view. - With my proposed change, The Legion is much stronger. This offers counter play on the survivors part. For instance, you may be being chased but break line of sight for a second, watching the killer sprint past your hiding spot just moments later. Plays like this would feel rewarding and exhilerating.
- Enables an extended cooldown that takes effect once the power gauge is empty. - Yes, The Legion now only has to do his cooldown after making use of his "Deep Wound" ability. This essentially means that The Legion can activate Feral Frenzy, sprint up to a survivor, and then quickly deactivate the ability to land the killing blow. Please keep in mind that this can not be spammed as the power guage will be empty after using the power. The power guage also resets when landing a regualr M1 strike, so no problems there either.
I get it devs, you want killers to be fun before strong, but there are ways to make them both fun and strong, such as this change I present to you now. This change would give not seeing scratch marks and the gauge reset an actual purpose instead of just making the killer feel like they have all these drawbacks for no reason. In addition, the killer would have a high skill cap such as Huntress or Spirit. I think this would be a fun change while still being able to keep the precious 110% movement speed (It may beckon a terror radius increase however). Thank you for reading!
