Perk Progression

I am of the opinion that the progression system (bloodweb) is among the worst designs for advancement. The random nature of the progression often leaves you with a bunch of 'booby prizes'. Moving from that general comment to the specifics for this post.

Assuming the progression system doesn't get a major overhaul any time soon, the biggest issue I see comes from tiered perk progression and random appearance. A character starts with 3 associated perks. Some perks get a tremendous boost from increasing them and some not so much. Specific examples of perks that receive improvement could be Whispers which moves from 48 meter detection at tier 1 to 32 meters at tier 3, or kindred which changes the aura distance from 8 to 16 meters. Regardless of your opinion of the perks themselves, these both see a significant improvement in efficacy.

A character starting with a perk at tier one may find themselves getting to tier 3 in 10 levels or only tier 2 in 47. With the addition of so many perks from new characters, even collecting all perks if they were tier 3 to begin with would take a considerable amount of time given that each character has to gain them independently.

I see a couple options for potential improvement to this.

  1. Share perk progression across all survivors and killers respectively.
  2. Maintain the current system but only have tier 1 appear on the bloodweb. You can then move the progression to a different menu where you can use bloodpoints to progress specific perks rather than gambling on the web.
  3. Completely change the progression system to allow for actual choices rather than a loot box style gamble that can lead to characters with dozens of add-ons/perks they don't want and hardly any of the ones they do.
