Onryō chase power idea--stationary "snapshots" while Demanifested
Hello,
The Onryo is currently considered a lower-tier stealth killer due to her lullaby and the meagerness of her passive phasing--it is rather inconsequential and its effectiveness doesn't really lie in the hands of the player. I have an idea that could increase her skill cap.
While Demanifested, the Onryō is seen by Survivors in stationary "snapshots". Each snapshot captures the direction she was facing when it was taken, and she herself can see her arms "flicker" as each one is taken. The snapshots are captured every 1-2 seconds by default, but the closer she is to a powered TV, the further apart they are. While Manifesting, she becomes fully visible.
Additionally, standing still while Demanifested grants a long window of invisibility--around 5 seconds. When she teleports to a TV, there is no longer an indication to nearby Survivors if she has done so--for a moment they will not be able to tell if she is just standing still, or if she has gone to another location. She still produces an audio cue from the TV she emerges from.
I think this change could greatly increase the skill cap of Onryō players and add a unique, moment-to-moment uncertainty when looping her that exists with no other Killer. The player can fake-out Survivors by changing the direction they are facing when each snapshot is taken, they can choose to move across open gaps during the invisibility window, and they can stand in place to confuse the Survivor. Additonally, it incentivizes her to herd Survivors toward powered TVs and causes her to consider whether she should "use up" a TV by teleporting to it.
I do not believe the 5-second invisibility window would be overpowered because standing still in a chase typically has little benefit to any Killer, and it is not long enough for her to camp objectives.
If anyone has any thoughts on this, please feel free to put them below! Thanks!
