Progression Idea: Alchemy

Who likes creating compounds that may or may not mutate you into a horrific monster? The real question is who doesn't!

Alchemy is the new way, the best way, to progress in the fog and give up your soul yourself an advantage!

How do you do it? Glad you asked!

First, work with your team to collect plants from the trials! They are rather obvious and are quick to collect, but can only be collected when they are blossoming. All it takes to get them to blossom is going generators, saving teammates, and breaking totems. Even better, you don't even need to escape! Just drop them off in one of the three locations and you are good to go! There are three different plants, green healing plants, orange blighted plants, and blood red fruit! (Note: Do not eat these fruits)

Make them bleed and the entity will collect it for you. The more survivors in a trial at a time, the more material you collect. Keep them suffering and don't finish them off until the very end to get the most materials to work with. Collect Blood, Bones, and Meat

The next step is to grind these plants into powder. Two plants are needed to create one pouch of powder. These powders can be used in a variety of ways, ranging from offerings such as the bloody fruit bag which grants a x2 BP modifier, item add-ons such as healing slave which increases healing speed by 10% along with negating hemorrhage, to items themselves such as the explosive pouch which functions as similarly to a flash bang. Don't combine the blood red fruit and the blighted plants. It creates something horrible called a vessel

From here you create offerings to the entity that can serve a variety of purposes. Using meat and blood creates the survivor puddings the entity loves so much. Using blood and bones creates a ward that protects an add-on form destruction. Finally, using meat and bones creates a effigy.

Effigies are hard to come by, but they are the key to great rewards. Effigies by themselves don't do anything and must be combined with one of the three plants to become active. Once active, Effigies can be burned in the campfire to begin an Effigy Challenge. Depending on what plants you put into the effigy changes what the challenge is. If you put in a green plant, altruism in the goal. Put in an orange plant, than chests and gates must open. Put in a red fruit, prepare for a chase. If you complete the challenge, the effigy will be transformed into a statue of mysterious metal that can be molded into items, offerings, and blood points. If you fail, don't worry. The effigy will only become dormant once more.

Vessels are empty shells that can be filled with meat, blood, or bone to create a great gift to the entity. Sadly, in order to finish creating this gift, killers will need to add material fresh from the source, during a trial. Vessels can be brought to the campfire to mark their presence but be warned, their presence warps the realm around you so expect some unpleasant surprises based on which vessel you brought. A bone vessel brings with it an extra generator to manage, a blood vessel creates first aid stations for survivors to heal, mend, and slow down infections, while finally meat brings with it more pallets and vaults. The reward for a successful trial (at least 9 hooks) is a statue of a mysterious metal that can be molded into add-ons, offerings, and blood points.

But you want more than that, don't you? Even when faced with the ability to create anything you want, you can't help but want even more? Desire even greater power? To escape to a safe heaven? Or to rule this hell?

The first step to greater power are scavenging missions. You will be given three different challenges to choose from, providing you with blood points but also three more ingredients to use: Glass, Metal, and Fuel. These materials can be used alongside the other materials to continue the Blight's research and create serums with powerful effects. Things such as your own personal blood hunt, temporarily copying other killer powers, and custom skins reflecting your dominance of the fog.

The overall goal of this progression system is to create an endgame, something to work towards as both survivor and killer. Since you need materials from both sides, it incentives playing both sides of the trial. The system for gaining materials for both sides is meant to punish hiding away the entire match as a survivor and tunneling for killer. The end rewards should be worthwhile, with my favorite idea being a legendary skin for each character depicting them as the other side, survivor as killer and vice-versa. Do I think this idea is ambitious? Yes. Do I think it would be worthwhile? Yes.
