Simple yet effective solution to hardcore camping

Problem:

  • Some killers (namely, a certain Texan with a chainsaw) are far too effective at camping survivors to death 100 to 0 for the two full minutes the survivor in on the hook. Due to increased gen times and perks like Deadlock and No Way Out, this strategy is very effective at getting multiple kills despite requiring very little effort.

Solution:

  • The duration of each hook stage is doubled. Instead of 60 seconds to go seconds stage and 60 seconds to die, it's 120 seconds to second stage and 120 seconds to die.

This would mean that if a killer wants to camp someone to death on first hook, it would take four whole minutes. An absolutely massive time investment that makes hardcore camping simply never worth it.

It would slightly hurt honest killers that simply want to punish the survivor team for failing to unhook in time (e.g. it's been 45 seconds and no one has unhook, so you camp the last 15 seconds to guarantee the stage up). Giving survivors two whole minutes to get an unhook before seconds stage or death is extremely generous, but that's also two whole minutes of one survivor being unable to assist their team in any meaningful way.

What do you guys think? I know there's some issues with this idea, but I'd love to know what problems other players see that I don't see.

Comments

  • Reassurance being one... going from 4 minutes to 4 minutes and 30 seconds could be an issue

The new Self pick up mechanic... could be an issue

But other then those specific situations I don't see much wrong with it... maybe if the Killer doesn't camp that would be an issue

It seems like the Devs are looking for existing mechanics to become the norm... so IDK if doing this soon is going to a good thing
