Reassurance Question: Hook Instance vs Hook State

The Developer Update says "Reassurance can only be used once per hook instance" and the wording makes me wonder if "Hook Instance" is meant to be distinct from "Hook State".

In other words, say a Survivor is on a Hook long enough to go from first stage to second. Could a Survivor with Reassurance only use it once, since it's a single instance of being hooked, or twice, once in first stage and once in second.

  • I'm reading it as 'once per that survivor getting hooked', NOT once per hookstate. But clarification would be appreciated.

  • A Hook instance is when a Survivor gets hooked. Hook Stages are the different stages of a Hook. Chilling, Struggle, dead

  • I think 'hook instance' basically means you can only use the perk once on someone as long as they are on the hook.

So for example if someone is on 1st hook and is camped to 2nd, if you use reassurance on their first stage - you can't use it again on that person at all once it's done, but if that person was unhooked before 2nd then hooked again, you could use reassurance another time

    That's my interpertation of it

I don't mind the perk working like this if it means we see a Cannibal change at some point

Can BHVR please just rip the band aid off and change Bubba already instead of just letting him facecamp people with no counterplay

  • This is something I'd like clarification on as well- it's the difference between the perk being "good" and "great" in a situation where it should very much be the latter.

  • I had originally read instance and state as synonyms as they typically are, especially in programming contexts. And some parts of the game, such as the hook counters for both survivor and killer, seem to imply that these are the same thing.

The actions in the game that are for a distinct hook usually use the active tense like "after hooking a survivor" or "hook 15 survivors" and don't use the word instance.

We could really use some clarification on this. It should absolutely be hook states if there is a difference. The perk shouldn't be weaker when the perk is used and the killer still camps.
