Thanatophobia Needs an Overhaul

The Problem

  • Thanatophobia is still a slowdown perk in a game where Generators now take 90 seconds to complete under normal circumstances.
  • Thanatophobia was never nerfed to where the characters that make it problematic (Legion, Plague, Nurse) can't use it effectively.
  • It feels as if you developers have not actually listened to the criticisms of the Perk and instead are trying to double down to its original concept.

The Solution

After hooking a Survivor, Thanatophobia activates for the next 56/58/60 seconds:

  • All Survivors within a 32 meter radius of the recently hooked Survivor will scream and reveal their location to you once that Survivor is hooked.
  • All Survivors within a 64 meter radius of the recently hooked Survivor will receive a 50% penalty to action speeds in healing, cleansing, blessing and sabotaging.

The secondary effect of Thanatophobia goes on cooldown for 60 seconds once a Survivor is hooked and the duration of Thanatophobia cannot be reset.

The Reason

Thanatophobia is meant to be the fear of death, so make it more about the fear of the Survivors dying that causes them to start to crumble over time.

And instead of applying a penalty to repairing speeds, instead have it apply to healing, totem and sabotaging speeds so that there can be an even greater amount of slowdown to those aspects of the game. This would still tremendously slow down the game, but not in a way that is unnecessary. It would also be another counter to Survivors being able to heal very quickly, something Killers would be appreciative of having.

The added effect of the Survivors screaming once another Survivor is hooked within 32 meters is to also give Killers a reason to start moving and continuing to get the primary effect (which is information).

This would make the Perk significantly better and finally get rid of the old and outdated version of the Perk. This would also make it so that every Killer can get use out of this perk equally rather than some being able to use it better than others.

Please give us this version of the Perk. I guarantee it will work.
