An idea to buff soloQ and close the gap between it and SWF

Walkie Talkies!

How they would work:

  • Basekit ability for all survivors, does not require an item.
  • Pressing the assigned button starts a short animation where the survivor pulls out their walkie talkie.
  • As soon as the animation is finished a wheel of preset messages opens and you can select which one you want to send out.
  • Selecting any phrase will make a local sound of radio static or cracking or something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvbIOVXpoKE
  • The phrase will be received by all other survivors, showing on the left next to the icon of the sender
  • The animation can started during any action, such as healing, repairing a generator or being chased. It does not cancel any of those actions nor slows you down.

Killers could profit from this as they could hear the soundeffects the walkie talkie makes if a message is being sent by a nearby survivor.

Phrases that I think would be nice are "Repairing Generator", "Rescuing from Hook", "Killer Nearby", "Being Hunted", "Hiding", "Hex Spotted", "Blessing a Totem", "Healing", "being healed" and some others

Other uses for the Walkie Talkie is a ping function:

  • Pinging an object reveals its aura for 5 seconds to all survivors as well as makes a message with a picture of the pinged object appear next to their icon.
  • You may ping the killer
  • Only the killers location will be highlighted, not the killer themselves. Think of it like the purple glyph aura except it doesnt move.

There may be more situational phrases like "We are facing X killer", "the killer has X perk", "I have X perk". Not too sure how to implement these.

There should maybe be a cooldown of some sort to avoid people spam sending messages but that is something on the side

thoughts? I think a communication system that isnt a voice chat is direly needed for soloQ because a lot of things soloQ struggles against are teammates not doing what they should be doing because they lack information that swf has.
