Its weird, the endurance effect that appears when it activates exists to show you that “hey you have 3 stacks your next hit that would down you will not down you!”, so it isn’t endurance but uses endurance to show that you are able to tank a hit
Mettle of Man has a unique effect of not taking a hit. It is not an endurance effect, but it acts like one in a sense.
It's the only endurance effect in the game that doesn't cause a deep wound
it has its own exclusivity to it if you think about it
Also I think they just haven't come up with another icon for mettle of man showing you can tank a hit
