Furtive Chase needs a new Face

Current Furtive Chase

  • Each time you hook your Obsession, you gain 1 Token, up to a maximum of 2/3/4 Tokens:
    • While in a chase, your Terror Radius is reduced by 4 meters per accumulated Token.
    • When a Survivor rescues the Obsession from a Hook, that Survivor becomes the new Obsession.

The Problems

  • This only activates if you manage to down the Obsession and hook them.
  • This gives value only while you are in chase.
  • This is generally seen as a bad Perk because of these aforementioned issues in addition to the fact that some Killer players prefer going after other Survivors first.

The Solution: Furtive Chase (New)

  • Each time you hook a Survivor, you gain 1 Token, up to a maximum of 2/3/4 Tokens:
    • The Obsession's aura is revealed to you for 2 seconds per accumulated Token.
  • When a Survivor rescues another Survivor from a hook, the rescuer becomes the new Obsession and is afflicted with both the Blindness and Oblivious status effects for 60 seconds.
  • These status effects go away once that Survivor is put into the Dying State or the Obsession state is transferred.

Keeping in line with the original intentions of the Perk, this new version of Furtive Chase offers the exact thing that it was originally lacking--decent rewards and the capability to become secretive and stealthy.

With this version of Furtive Chase, you now get to see your Obsession's aura (i.e. the rescuer) and are capable of stealthily approaching them with ease. This, in essence, makes the Perk's name literal as you are now in a "furtive chase" with the Survivor that doesn't know your exact location until it's possibly too late.

And to keep the token system, as well as the Obsession system, this Perk basically rewards you with a new benefit: instead of a Terror Radius reduction, you get to see the Obsession's aura for 2 seconds per token, up to a maximum of 8 seconds. This makes the Perk very valuable over time and allows you to grow in power for each unhook. This also synergizes well with Perks such as Hex: Devour Hope or Make Your Choice, too.

This is a version of the Perk that I would be very confident in it being usable and fun to have, but not overwhelming to the point of becoming a meta perk by design. It would effectively change the Perk from mostly useless to being actually pretty good.
