FOV Slider, Shadowborn and Monitor Rework Ideas

So killers have been asking for an FOV slider for a long time now, mostly as think a Quality of Life update. But also accesibility for some who have motion sickness, and with the Spine Chill changes I'm hopeful.

But 2 perks need to change to make this happen, Shadowborn and M&A. Here's my ideas:

  • Added FOV slider ranging from basekit FOV to Shadowborn FOV
  • Removed FOV bonuses from Shadowborn and Monitor & Abuse
  • Reworked Shadowborn: Survivors in lockers are no longer immune to aura reading. Survivors in lockers are revealed to you when within 2/3/4 meters.
  • Added effect to Monitor & Abuse: Increases your movement speed by 1/1.5/2% when out of chase.

What do you think? Being able to see survivors in lockers would be a situational, but rewarding perk, but mainly a combo perk with aura reading. And it fits Wraiths perks being related to tracking. The Monitor change also fits the perks trick of approaching before survivors expect it, and would one of the few perks that can increase movespeed.

BBQ would of course still not activate if a survivor is fully inside a locker when the perk activates.

Votes and feedback from killers and survivors are very welcome.

  • Great ideas and FOV as base slider is something I expect at this point to eventually come to the game.

but I feel like Shadowborn would be a little bit too oppressive with survivors auras revealed in lockers? Though that might only affect lower MMR and might not be as relevant as i think. Also why wouldn’t it work with BBQ?

as for movement speed increase for M&A, I guess it sound good especially as it isn’t really rewarding the already strong killers but those that don’t have enough map mobility..

  • That might be too strong for Shadowborn. Jumping in a locker is a counter to aura perks, so denying the counter would make survivors powerless. Much like how Iron Will 100% countered Stridor before this patch, making killers similarly powerless against it.

I'm thinking it could take some cues from Dredge's Nightfall. By altering the brightness and contrast of your vision, making it possible to pick out details you otherwise wouldn't, with the ability to pick out survivors from their surroundings.

Shadowborn: Increases your visual intensity in the dark by 50%, and highlights survivors within 8/10/12 meters.

Basically half strength of Dredge's night-vision, with a limited range of highlighting. Making it incredibly easy to locate survivors trying to hide.

That's also fair, making it easier to find survivors hiding in plain sight. I like it.
