Improvements for solo survivors and why it would be a win-win for both sides
Currently, Dead by Daylight juggles balance because there are both solo survivors and survivors playing together with others (whether 1, 2, or 3 others). Notably, playing together with others does not actually necessarily mean they will have better teamwork than playing alone. It means they have better access to information. So how can the solo survivor experience be improved to become essentially the same as SWF? Giving as much of the same information that SWF has access to.
I understand that this game was originally balanced around there not being communication. However, SWF is an unavoidable part of the game: It's just people wanting to play together with others. So the game should be re-balanced around every survivor becoming "SWF" in terms of level of information access and sharing.
semi-automated ping wheel/icon indicators
The latter is one people have already seen rudimentary concept art for. Essentially, icons showing if a survivor is repairing, healing, etc. However, I believe it can be improved one step further. There should be a ping wheel with some predetermined helpful messages. For example, "Being chased"/"Killer dropped chase"/"Killer camping"/"Do this gen"/"Don't do this gen"/"Heal me"/"Come here"/"Don't come here"/etc. Furthermore, another possible step that could assist is a degree of automation. For example, when the game recognizes a chase started, it will automatically send the "Being chased" ping so that they don't have to do it themselves. The manual version of the ping would be in cases where that would not apply (eg, stealth killer approaching/moonwalking/etc).
This would allow for the same sort of communication a group using voice communications would have. There should be a short cooldown on pings to prevent spamming (eg, 1-3s or so). It being predetermined messages would also prevent the explicit toxicity that something such as voice chat would absolutely bring (flaming and insulting others).
Seeing Loadouts
Simple one. A lot of perks are harder to get value out of in solo currently due to lack of good communication. For instance, Camaraderie/Kinship (pauses the Struggle Phase timer for 34s when another survivor comes in 16m). All survivors should be able to see all loadout aspects: Perks, items, add-ons, offerings.
How this can help weaker killers and weaker perks for either side
With the above changes, the level of information solo and SWF have would become near synonymous for most intents and purposes. As said before, being in a group doesn't mean there's good teamwork. Just sharing of information. AKA, solo and SWF become essentially identical. Thus, the game would no longer need to juggle balancing things for solo versus SWF.
As such, killers can receive buffs as necessary, with the game being re-balanced around all survivors being SWF, information level-wise. This applies especially to killers who are held back because buffing them further would make it too oppressive for solo who cannot communicate well/at all. Solo survivor will become far less oppressive without having to nerf the killer themselves, who may even receive buffs if necessary.
Furthermore, survivor and killer perks that are currently essentially useful only for or against solo survivors can then be reworked, which allows for more variety and strength.
Comments
Sorry but not happening, these type of suggestions have been made since the game released and the devs have said they don't have plans to implement them, especially perk loadouts...people disconnected a lot during the lobby screen when we were able to see other players ranks, many will automatically disconnect when they see a survivor using a perk they don't like, auto disconnect when they see someone using self care for example since a lot of players hate that perk.
I really really don't want people haranguing me because I'm not using their perk of choice.
Those ping ideas are coming in the form of the teased icons. I think they're going to see how the gameplay adjustments they're about to implement play out before adding them. They're really insanely powerful if you think about it, for solo and friends.
