Grind changes RE: Iri Shards
Long time lurker, first time posting.
Anyhow, I went and read through several threads speaking about the changes to the way the grind will be handled. From what I can gather, it will greatly reduce the amount of /specifically/ bloodpoints used for the grind. Bloodpoints and iri shards are something you acquire just by playing.
Bloodpoints are, very often, given out in abundance during events and other things, such as codes and other giveaways. Iri shards are given out significantly less, and in significantly less amounts proportionally. This often leads to a deficit of iri shards for all but hardcore players, which leads me to my main issue.
This game, at it's core, is a competitive game. Sure, you can argue that its all fun and meme builds are a thing, but people will want to get the best perks that they can to remain competitive, lest they get destroyed by the opposite team. With the current proposed changes, acquiring competitive perks /without/ sinking additional money into DLC will cause those of us generally unwilling to spend on DLC to have to spend truly obscene amounts of time on the game to remain competitive, signifigantly more than in the current system.
In the current system, you need only wait until the perk you want is on the Shrine of Secrets, purcahse it, and then grind it out on your individual character. Sure, it could take a while, but costed no money and just a few iri shards - and a truly metric asston of bloodpoints that you were likely getting from bbq and events anyhow.
In the new system, you will not only have to wait until the perk you want is on shrine of secrets, but you will have to farm out signifigantly more iri shards in which to get it. Or, you know, buy the DLC, if you feel so inclined.
I guess my issue is that it /appears/ the game will be, even moreso than before, incentivizing you to spend additional money on the game, lest you be trapped in perkless iri-grinding hell; and thats if the shrine of secrets even gets the perks you need to remain competitive. With the number of perks on the rise constantly, the chances of it rolling out what you need gets slimmer and slimmer.
