We're gonna live forever is nowhere near as good as Barbecue & Chili

So I just had a 15 minute rant with myself about how farming bp as a survivor is extremely daunting while as the killer it's just another monday.

When talking about bp farming there are 2 perks that stand out for survivor and killer: We're Gonna Live Forever and Barbecue & Chili respectively.

My problem with the two is that Barbecue & Chili (BBq later on) rewards the killer player with extra bloodpoints for just playing the game as it's intended, since hooking survivors is a core task, and it's active (the aura highlight) is actually useful in-game (also the fact that BBq's active works after hooking survivors and the tokens for bonus bloodpoints also get added for the same action)! While We're Gonna Live Forever (WGLF later on) has an objectively bad active (100% increase to healing downed player speed/only is ever good vs slugging) and most of the tokens get rewarded for actions that deviate from the "core" survivor gameplay and that have an extremely narrow window for application (flashlight saves, pallet saves, taking protection hits), these conditions make it extremely hard to get 4 tokens all while in the end surviving the trial, making it rare to escape and get a 100% increase to the bloodpoints you gain (the two points aren't really connected but it is indeed hard to survive with all 4 tokens).

Now the fact that BBq is overtuned for a bloodpoint farming perk is well-known, but the problem isn't BBq, BBq is fine, what isn't is WGLF.

I think that the active of WGLF and/or actions that reward tokens for survivors should either be changed completely or the action of picking (healing) up a survivor from the downed state should award a token. Just so that the active of WGLF is useful in getting those tokens, just like it is for BBq. So basically, either the perk is made viable (like BBq) by tweaking it's active passive, or the actions that give tokens get changed.

That's just my take.

This is kind of it. TL;DR: Make farming less daunting, change how tokens are rewarded for WGLF Behaviour please

Edit: I do not have a problem with BBq as a perk, since the role of the killer in a trial is harder than that of survivors. What I do have a problem with is that BBq and Chili awards the killer with bonus bloodpoints for just playing the game, albeit without the tunneling aspect (which is good), meanwhile though you have WGLF, with which survivors don't get awarded bonus bloodpoints for even using the perk's passive (which BBq does).

Attaching tokens to anything gen related would be counter-productive since gen rushing is a thing and staying as far away from it as possible is, atleast in my opinion, healthy for the game (though I quite honestly don't understand why players in-need of bloodpoints have to stick to a certain playstyle while players with more bloodpoints/perks than they can count can choose what to play). So the only solution I can think of is just rewarding more things to incentivise non-gen rush playstyles like: staying in a killer's terror radius/staying in chase with a killer for a minute awards a token, picking up a survivor from the downed state awards a token. I do hope my point is a bit clearer now.

  • BBQ and Chili is an elegantly designed perk as its aim is to disincentivise camping and tunneling. You gain much more of a reward by going for new survivors rather than focusing on someone you've hooked, and you are helped to not camp by being shown where you should go, but only far from the hook. It may be a better perk because of how it's simpler to use, but in general it makes the game better for both teams.

WGLF is always going to be worse, because outside of just tying it to basically every score event, there's always going to be competition for the events that give stacks. Like BBQ, it incentivises play which makes the game more enjoyable for other players; saving them safely and protecting them.

Personally I hope both BP bonuses are baked into the base game with the upcoming perk reworks, but as it stands they both do the job they're intended for. WGLF could have no requirements and survivors still wouldn't run it because it isn't a free health state.

  • BBQ is one of the best designed perks in the game imo. It rewards killers for doing their objective and is overall very convenient. If I have to hook a survivor anyway it's nice to have a reward that now shows me where to go next and also gives extra BP. WGLF on the other hand is also healthy for the game but not as easily done, if you're not in a SWF and then you wouldn't need the actual effect anyway. It would be nice to get stacks for more different actions and honestly I don't understand why it can't be for healing or other actions as well. It's not like it's hard to get BBQ to 4 stacks, so why would WGLF be that way?

I do share your hopes for the upcoming perk rework.

  • The problem is this.

BBQ happens very naturally; the killer doing their objective.

WGLF requires someone to go on a hook, which means the killer does their objective (which you obviously want to prevent). After the hook, you're competing with your other teammates to get the unhook... if you even CAN unhook, because the killer may be camping and/or be a Bubba, Huntress, or so on.

That is right, I think more opportunities for getting tokens should be introduced.

  • I think that you should gain a token for healing another survivor

  • True, farming BP should be easy for both roles, healing should give stacks and maybe 1 gen repaired=1 stack ? 1 boon purified ?

I mean BBQ chili you can almost ignore it, play normally and you end up with full stacks... solo survivors need some love
