RPD's Library Hook Spawns are Dumb

Previous Hook Spawning

  • Two hooks could possibly spawn on the top floor of the RPD Library, which led to Killers being able to sit on the stairs to prevent Survivors from rescuing their teammates. This was removed sometime later.
  • One hook could also possibly spawn on the floor below.

Current Hook Spawning

  • One hook still possibly spawns on the second floor area of the RPD Library, but it's not guaranteed.

The Problems

  • Since only one hook spawns in the RPD Library at any given point in time, this means that Survivors are still able to exploit the Boil Over change to where it becomes impossible to hook them under most circumstances.
  • This is only further exacerbated by the fact that some will run Sabotage or Breakdown builds in order to cut off access to one of the hooks.

The Solution

  • There is now a guaranteed chance that at least two hooks will spawn inside of the Library.
  • There is now a small additional chance that the Lounge or Main Hall will spawn a hook in the locations seen in the image below. These are in addition to the hook spawns that typically occur in these rooms.

All hook locations seen in the image above correspond to only the second floor of the Raccoon City Police Station, and no hooks spawn on the upper floor of the Library. The one on the upper left corner of the Library has always been there, but every other hook spawn is a new potential spawn for hooks.

This prevents the Boil Over infinite exploit from being prominent (even after a single hook is gone), and ensures healthier gameplay in the Library as a result.

Further Issues

  • Since there are Survivors who love to try to ruin a Killer's day with this map, there are bound to be other ways they will attempt to prevent a Killer from hooking them in the winding corridors of the Raccoon City Police Station.
  • The image below can be used as a tool to fix other problematic areas for hook spawning in emptier zones.

  • New hook spawn locations can be seen on the Roof, the second floor hallway of the East Wing, and the Shower Room, all of which now have a chance of spawning.
  • At least one hook seen in the East Wing hallway is guaranteed to accompany the Roof's hook spawn location.

There, I've fixed (most of) Raccoon City Police Station's hook spawn problem. I'm certain that this would be a very welcome change, and I hope that this useful tool could be used to push for healthier hook spawn locations sooner, rather than later.

I put a lot of work in this, so I'd love it if this could be implemented into the game in some capacity, and I'd at least love to hear the thoughts of the people about this.
