Survivor objective vs. Killer objective

Lets compare the times it takes to complete 5 gens vs. the times it takes to down and hook 4 survivors 3 times each. Isn't completing 5 gens a whole lot faster than the killer's objective? And it only takes 2 people to stick to gens, 2 others can goof around or run the killer on the unfair map design (balanced for beginner players). So why shouldn't killers tunnel one or two people out to stand a chance against gen speed? Survivor objective is a lot faster than the killer's objective, that's why killers need to rely on 3-4 gen defense perks to stand a chance.

  • Correct. Now add perks that give survivors the power to 1vs1 the killer and you have the current meta.

I mean it's so logical. That survivor objective is so much faster than the killers. Then you have perks like DH, DS that wastes the killer's time even more. The killer is ALWAYS out of time in dbd, survivors can chill and still get their objective done.

Thats one of the things about DbD, that i don´t understand. Its always the killer who feels pressured. Not the other way around.

Shouldn´t survivors feel even slightly pressured, when they are chased by a bloodthirsty killer? Instead they go on full Ellen Ripley.

  • Im sorry, they aim the game for Killer to have 2 to 10 hooks. Not 12.

The average hooks is 6. Which is... manageable.

I still dont like being punished for playing fair though

Yeah they force the killer to just secure kills (tunnel/camp) and not go for hooks. Then survivor mains butcher killers for securing kills and not going for 12 hooks. It's a vicious cycle.

  • Yeah this is the part of DBD I've never felt like made much sense. By default it takes one survivor 400 seconds to do 5 gens. Even if you factored in a travel time of a whole minute, that's still 460 seconds total. With killer, it takes 60 seconds per hook state to kill a survivor. Even if you could instantly teleport, down, and hook survivors, that's still 480 seconds of time. So even if you could start the match and immediately have all 4 survivors on the hook, it'd take about the same amount of time for a single survivor to finish all 5 gens, and power the exit Gates with travel time.

Now add in a bunch of second chance perks, strong loops and map tile spawns, and the fact that there's 3-4 survivors that can be completing their objective at any given time, and it's easy to see how killers feel more pressure. From the start of the match you are playing from behind. And your only way to bridge that gap and possibly get ahead is based on other players altruism and mistakes. Where your only real skill needed is, can you punish those mistakes. It's a dumb way to make one side of the game.
