Hook System Change
We all know how the system works, we all know how a single chase can take so long that killers decide to just campt that 1 hook they got and make the match boring for themselves and everyone else. That is why i wanna share this idead.
What if instead of simply hooking and deciding to Camp or leave for an easy rescue the game would automatically lock the hooked survivor. A timeout, a guaranteed 3v1. It removes camping because there's no reason to Camp, they can't be rescued, it removes tunneling since unless the killer purposefully waits for the Entity to release the survivor then killer will be doing something else entirely, meaning that hooked survivor can come back to the match without being in danger.
In reality the killer can hook someone and imediattly apply pressure elsewhere instead of camping and tunneling some poor guy. It's a very generous trade already, a guaranteed 3v1 for a while and no need to camp. For you survivors it might sound too bad but you still have all the same defensive options, you can bodyblock, pallet save, flashlight save, sabotage hooks etc, you can prevent the Hook from happening, plus you can still make the chase take as long as it possibly can, all i'm doing is make a Hook actually mean something for killers. A momemtum swinger. A mechanism to ensure the stress level of a killer doesn't stay too high for too long and doesn't lead to frustration. Decreasing player Frustration is something BHVR should be working on...
Right now a single hook doesnt mean much when there's 12 to get and when getting that 1 hook can take a long time but with this System change getting 1 hook can be very helpful since for a while the killer knows they can focus on something without suffering much consequence.
Another benefit of a System change like this is that you can start testing changes to Slowdown perks, some nerfs to popular perks might be benefitial because of the base benefits of the system change for killers, thus we could see and implement a decline in Slowdown needs and give room for actual fun chase and effect perks.
For Survivors you're probably wondering well then Second Chance Perks will just remain as strong because you want to make chases long and avoid 3v1's from happening so stuff like DH, DS, Boons etc are still powerful and that's true, i don't intend to make survivors weaker i simply just want killer to be not as frustrating. And there's still Maps and Loops to debate so it's not like Survivors are getting hit with anything, i'm just giving killers a chance to play more without falling to frustration or cheap tactics that don't make things fun for anyone.
