Map offerings

I don't like how map offerings work. Especially for killer, it's really hit or miss for your power, and having a survivor force you to play a certain map can be really annoying sometimes. You could just bring a counter offering, but you don't even know if they'll bring a map offering beforehand, so that's not ideal either.

Generally speaking, I don't like that people on either side can force maps to be chosen. I think I would prefer it if we could use an offering to suggest a map and others then can either vote for it or against it. That way you can always unanimously vote against it.

To try and prevent people from just always voting against any map offerings, you could just set a 2x BP bonus for if the map offerings voting is successful. That way people might also agree to a map for the bonus BP, even if that map isn't what they would have preferred originally.

So my suggestion:

The Sacrificial Ward offering would get removed.

Using a map offering will start a short voting phase (like 10 sec max) when it's burned.

Each solo survivor gets 1 vote

Survivor groups get 1 vote per group

The Killer gets 1 vote, which counts for 2

If the vote passes successfully, the offered map will be chosen and every player gets 2x bloodpoints (like BPS)

If the vote is unsuccessful, the offering will be discarded and a random realm will be chosen.

If multiple different map offerings are being burned, 1 offering will be chosen at random to start the vote.

This would help the BP grind a little, but also makes the map offerings more dynamic and engaging. If you really don't want to play on the suggested map, there will also be a fair chance to prevent the map from getting played.

  • Personally I’d be happy if they just removed map offerings altogether. They cause more problems than any minor benefit they give. In particular they exacerbate map imbalances and exploits by allowing people who want to abuse them to just keep pulling those maps up over and over. The recent Boil Over issue on RPD for instance was bad and was made even worse because people who wanted to really drill into that exploit could just keep going to that map repeatedly. If there were no map offerings then when a serious exploit or imbalance pops up in a map it at least keeps the number of matches where that becomes a problem to a minimum.

That's true yeah. I wouldn't mind either if they removed them, but that wouldn't fix these maps, that's a different problem.

For sure, it doesn’t fix problems in those maps, but it does mean those problems crop up in a smaller percentage of the games.

  • Map offerings wouldn't be an issue if the maps themselves were balanced

  • I would feel much better about my matches on both sides if no one was dictating where we were headed. I’m agreed to remove all offerings related to maps on both sides. But also making certain maps more bearable and balanced.

  • I already submitted the idea of a fire, if they want to burn the offering, then there should be a notification for the killers in the form of a change in the color of the fire.

Second idea - Make offerings ultra-rare for survivors, and reduce the rarity of "Sacrificial ward" for killers, because the killer is playing against 4 survivors

Either reduce the chance of dropping the desired map for offerings, as when they were yellow rarity
