I'm concerned you don't care about Dead by Daylight

Look, as it is you got a problem. While giving out free bloodpoints is good and all. The current MMR in place that you swapped to it way to broken. Literally a single kill or escape can change the game from a 0k to a 4k game instantly. Not only that but so many content creators and others who somehow still play this game have done one of two things. The first is try to voice their concern and gotten either ignored or even punished for suggesting anything. The current MMR is literally killing the game. The steam player base went up after the Resident Evil chapter but has been dropping after the Hellraiser chapter. Not to mention so many have left DBD for VHS. At this point I doubt going back to the old emblem system is impossible, but instead why not rework the MMR differently. Instead of escapes and kills, why not have it connected to how much you do in a single trial. How well you loop the killer or down a survivor. How many gens you do as to how many gens you prevent the survivors getting. Even unhooking and hooking survivors. I think this would make the MMR system you want actually better and could potentially aid in saving DBD from dying for a while longer. Literally I play mostly survivor now cause I can't play killer without a sweat team and making killer unplayable for me

  • The problem with your MMR suggestion is twofold; first, building and maintaining a system that accurately measures all of those things seems to be nightmarishly difficult- look how complex and nuanced the Emblem system is, that clearly took a lot of work and a lot of resources and it just straight up fully doesn't work for a few killers and isn't capable of properly measuring the nuances of every match for anyone.

The second problem is that it would be based on how you did in that one specific match, which to my understanding isn't how any matchmaking system works- a matchmaking system looks at how you play in general, across a large number of games. I think what's tripping a lot of people up is that they hear "MMR" and they think of like, the Overwatch ranked mode ladder? But that's a progression system as well as a matchmaking system, whereas the one we have is just a matchmaking system with no reward incentive or progression tree associated with it.

  • It does not matter how the MMR system calculates its values.

This is because MMR gets thrown out in favor of matching up teams who are waiting too long.

The whole point of MMR is to put survivors and killers of like skill up against one another. But the system just throws all that out because queue times are the first (and only) priority. So brand new survivors can run into experienced killers if there are no newbie killers playing. And newbie killers can get tossed into 4-man SWF death squads because there are no high mmr killers playing.

This is the opposite of how MMR is supposed to work and it ruins the game for so many more people than the damage "slightly too long queue times" were doing to the player base.
