Survivor Objective Rework Suggestion
Survivor objective rework idea:
Instead of holding M1 and waiting for skillchecks to pop up, there could be a mini-game which would be much more interactive for the Survivors. One idea for this could maybe be a sort of pipe-flow puzzle game, where you race against the stream of fuel/power inside the generator and have to realign the interior parts which are all in disorder to have the fuel/power flow correctly which fixes the generator. Each side of the generator would naturally have a different puzzle setup and would also provide a variety of work in a meaningful way for multiple Survivors fixing simultaneously. Failing to align a part before the fuel/power can safely flow causes the generator explosion we all know so well, and would also cause the progress (flow) to regress, instead of skillchecks and skillcheck failure.
Execution: Survivors have to channel M1 for 2 seconds in order to start repairs. Once channeled, a transparent window (so environmental awareness is not blocked) pops up on the centre of the screen, showing the interior of the generator with all the parts that are in disorder. The stream of fuel/power (which is the same as progress) begins to flow as soon as this window pops up, and the Survivor does not have to hold M1 any longer. Instead, they will be using the arrow keys to highlight a part and click M1 to select and to apply it, while M2 rotates it. They will still look around themselves by moving the mouse as usual.
Repairs now have 4 stages (or levels if you like) of repair: 0-25%, 25-50%, 50-75% and 75-100%, indicated by the generator cylinders. As the flow reaches the end of a level (window), the Survivor continues to the next level immediately. The tempo of the stream and difficulty increases with each level (more parts to align with less time). Clicking W, A, S or D causes the Survivor to move away, dropping the action immediately, but the stream (progress of repairs) will proceed as long as they had aligned the parts correctly for the stream of fuel/power to flow. Once the stream fails to flow, or the Killer kicks the generator, it explodes, the fuel/power regresses and the interior parts unreached by the stream get dislocated. If multiple Survivors work on the same generator while one fails to manage the stream, the generator explodes on their side and the stream (progress) regresses for all, but only the one who fails gets the parts unreached by the stream dislocated on their side. If a Killer kicks the generator however, all sides gets all parts dislocated that the stream hasn't reached.
Perk clarity: Ruin makes the stream regress at 200% normal rate when no Survivor is repairing just as before, but no parts get dislocated due to Ruin.
Pop Goes The Weasel causes 25% of current progress to instantly regress, dislocating parts unreached by the stream on all sides as a normal kick.
Jolt causes 8% immediate regression and dislocation of parts unreached by the stream on all sides.
There are of course more perks, but you get the idea - if it involves a kick or explosion, it causes the regression in addition to dislocation of parts unreached by the stream.
Very interested in thoughts and opinions. Thanks for reading!
