About The Spirit

I am new in the game and i am playing with The Spirit. But i have a question about her controls. While trying to catch a survivor (really really close, right in front of me) i am trying to hit but they escape because i am one step behind them. I watched some videos and in the same situation, players just faster for a little time and they can hit them. It's like faster for a moment (like bouncing??) when you r so close to survivor. How??? Is this a keyboard button or perk or idk something? Like what i said i am new in the game so thanks.

  • When you leave phase, you retain the phase movement speed for a short duration which can be used to make your lunge longer. There's also add-ons that extend that movement speed duration, thus increasing the lunge range potential further.

  • When playing her think more like a survivor then a killer. Mind games, stop and pretend to phase walk sometimes they'll run right back to you easy smack or you'll see where they try to hide at just phase over and get them. Keep practicing you'll find your rhythm

What you're referencing is Dead Hard. It's a Survivor perk that allows them to lunge forward and are immune to hits during the lunge.

It has an exhaustion cooldown like Sprint Burst and Lithe.

If you know or suspect someone has Dead Hard, ride their heels for a second and don't swing. If they lunge forward they blew the cooldown and can be hit. If they don't lunge forward, they probably don't have it, go ahead and hit them.

The worst thing you can do is swing as they use Dead Hard, because they don't get hurt and you suffer the missed attack slow down.

Edit: I should also mention that Dead Hard is only available to a survivor to use when they are injured, so you don't need to worry about it going off when you haven't hit them the first time yet.

Nearly every survivor is running one of the exhaustion perks, but they advertise which one it is. If they sprint away fast, right when the chase starts, that's Sprint Burst. Once the initial speed is gone, they're exhausted and have to not run for 40 seconds before it's available again.

If they run to a drop-off, it's usually because they have Balanced Landing, which will activate a Sprint Burst type speed boost when they land from a fall.

If they get a burst of speed after jumping through a window, it's Lithe, which is another burst of speed that activates when jumping through windows.

It's important to keep track of what people are using, and if they've used it. If they didn't get the burst of speed right off the bat, they aren't taking falls or going for windows, likely they have Dead Hard, so watch for it. If they do use any other speed burst, they either aren't using Dead Hard, or they're exhausted and can't use it, so you can play it out accordingly.

If you see a player start with No Mither, which is indicated by starting the match injured and unable to be healed in the bottom left, they are almost always also using Dead Hard.

  • Eventually, you'll also run into survivors who use Dead Hard pretty creatively. For example, if they were taken off the hook in the basement, and you get to the stairs before they have gotten out, they may charge you and use Dead Hard to bypass your hit and body block to escape the basement.

Just be aware they can use it to escape being body blocked by you to get out of the basement, get to a hook for a rescue, or make it to the gate when you're in the way. Again, the best way to counter it is to wait until after it's used to make the swing. You don't want to have to suffer the missed attack cooldown.

  • If you manage to get ahold of the bracelet addon (purple one) try to combine it with the Yakuyoke Amulet.

Then, march about and get close to generators, but not close enough that survivors can hear your heartbeat. Then go into phase shift, and go to said generator you chose to check if anybody repairs it.

Trust me when I say, it'll scare the crap out of survivors, and you secure yourself an easy free hook by grabbing somebody off a gen. I do this all the time, and it's hilarious.
