I play both sides. Much more skill needed to be a "toxic" survivor than a "toxic" killer IMO

My definition of "toxic" as derived from getting the most salt

Survivors: Loops well, can flashlight save easily, saboing/bodyblocking hooks

Loops well: requires intimate knowledge of pallet spawns, distances, killers reach, killers power, optimal pathing, experience, etc HARD

Flashlight save: awareness, timing, aiming, experience MEDIUM/HARD

saboing/bodyblocking: awareness, distances EASY

Killers: Tunneling, camping, slug

chase the same person, stand still or walk around general area of hook EASY

avoid bt/ds go after unhooker or just wait out bt/ds, continue tunneling same person, camp again EASY/MEDIUM

leave person on the ground less than a min (only if unbreakable) EASY

With that said killer still stresses me out more than survivor so I understand why camping and tunneling is done and in some situation is ACTUALLY strategic but not usually. SWFs can counter this easily, soloq usually not. I play soloq mostly.

This is also not to complain about camping and tunneling in general, just to point out that IMO its much easier to camp and tunnel than to say loop the killer for several gens or even flashlight save a few times.

all just my opinion and I've only played a year not 5 so I'm prolly wrong aout some stuff or leaving stuff out.

Comments

  • My definition of being toxic on killers are just head nods / shakes. Maybe a little spice if a survivor tries to body block me with bt, I’m going to 100% out wait for bt for blocking me.

Survivor toxicity has nothing to do with skill IMO, biggest thing that rings toxic to me is if a survivor is literally teabagging after every vault, pallet thrown, or just tries to blind me for the sake of blinding when it doesn’t benefit them at all.

  • So your definition of toxic is playing the game to win.

  • You can argue that the stuff you mentioned killers have to do also requires skill. You still have to know how to catch survivors at loops to even start camping and tunneling which is 100% more skillful than survivors looping against M1 killers.

  • These “Toxic” behaviors you listed are just playing the game. Come on looping well as survivor is toxic? You want then go stand still and die? Toxic behavior are gestures or actions that don’t help you win but exclusively are used to anger or annoy your opponents. For survivors it would be teabagging, flashlight clicking, waiting out the end game timer at the gates, hiding all game not doing gens, some even finding the pointing gesture toxic. For killers toxicity would be heads nods, hooks smacks, bleeding out survivors who clearly lost, straight up facecamping literally staring straight at survivors face not to be confused with regular camping, teabagging with certain killers like Ghostface, Pig,etc. Also the most toxic thing in this game is the end game chat. These are what toxicity in this game is and none of them not survivors not killers requires skills to do any of them.

Or just have the entity block the window/break a pallet. You're going to eventually catch them by speed/bloodlust alone. But i understand what you're saying like dont chase the perimeter of a T&L wall. Also something else you could of mentioned is mindgames. I'm just talking about camping, tunneling. slugging. You have to catch 1 survivor to do this. Only the worst killers i've ever seen (or brand new or facing team oracle) can't get 1 down.

You and I have...very different definitions of toxic.

What you are describing is just playing the game properly, with the exception of facecamping.

Facecamping...sucks, but Bubba and a few other killers currently are nearly useless without it.

What I'd consider to be toxic:

    Survivor

    • Refusing to complete the final gen and just stalling the game out with endless sabos, body blocks and hide and seek.
    • Teabagging in the exit gates.
    • Gloating.
    • Abusing pseudo-infinites or areas where you can't be hooked.
    • Flicky flicky games to mess up photosensitive players.
    • Taunting the killer from the exit gates, then denying them a hit.
    • Specific map offerings with further hook offerings.
    • Deliberate sandbagging/farming other survivors.
    • DCing on purpose.

    Killer

    • Hitting survivors on the hook (aside from an initial hit to cut the scream off).
    • Bodyblocking and going AFK to wall someone into a room.
    • Teabagging.
    • Slugging without a good reason.
    • Facecamping outside of EOGC. Bubba gets a pass though, because he's sort of built around it.
    • Stalling the game out and refusing to hook, but also denying gen progress.

    Not toxic:

    • Tunneling.
    • Proxy camping.
    • Not letting people heal.
    • Chasing people away from boxes on Pig.
    • Not giving people unhooks.
    • Not giving people hatch.

I guess i shouldnt of said my definition of toxic. These are things i've done as killer and survivor and get me the most salty messages. If i teabag or do some gesture the killer usually just tunnels me and camps but doesnt send a salty message. As killer gestures arent really a thing except like shaking your head no or yes (ghostface tbag ik) which i dont do normally as time is limited lol.

  • "toxic" gestures could also be strategic and playing the game to win. Say like when a good looper wants the killer to stay on them. Anyway it seems in my experience people get more mad about the things i mentioned than gestures.

honestly, most "toxic" survivor play is just arrogant altruism, which is usually fine by me.

killer toxicity means that you don't get to play the game sometimes.
