Boon Totems Should Encourage More Back and Forth
I think that the gap between hex perks and boon perks needs to be bridged. It really took until Hex: Pentimento to be released to notice just how much more powerful boons are than hexes. For one thing, once a hex totem has been cleansed, it's out of the game permanently. If a boon totem is snuffed, it can be blessed again immediately afterwards. It doesn't quite feel right that hexes can be removed permanently, but boons can be applied over and over again. This makes Hex: Pentimento kinda useless, as you will typically have no totems to rebuild, cause all of them, including hex totems are just getting blessed.
In order to make this perk viable at all, survivors need to be incentivized to cleanse totems over blessing them. I think that when survivors bless hex totems, and the killer snuffs it, the hex should return to the match. This would force survivors to think about whether they want the blessings of a boon totem, or remove a hex from the game permanently, instead of just automatically accomplishing both these things. This could also lead to more of a back and forth dynamic. Instead of killers just having to go out of their way to do one more thing, it could be a fight between both sides to grant themselves a powerful bonus.
Currently there is no penalty for blessing a totem over and over again. However, I think incentivizing certain actions is always more fun than punishing or prohibiting certain actions. By doing this, survivors can be incentivized to cleanse totems instead of punishing them for or barring them from blessing the same totem over and over again.
