Let's discuss competition, and why it's not something good for the game.
In all honesty, from the very start, I've wondered why people try to take this game as a competition. It's not. It shouldn't be. The devs adding rank kinda confuses me.
If ranking exists for the sheer purpose of balancing then yeah I guess but honesty survivors think it's a competition when they play.
Nieve killers do as well. It's not. This game is designed for four people to work together given the resources around them, teamwork, utilizing perk loadouts property and effectively so they can escape.
A killers skill is capped. You can only play so well, and in the end, it's up to them making mistakes so you can capitalize on those mistakes to snowball matches.
I see it all the time. I'm getting trashed in the start, capitalize on a weaker players mistakes, and it snowballs downhill for multiple kills.
A killer is only as good as the mistakes that are made. It's a handicapped match from the start. Your not supposed to get 4ks. Your supposed to try. They are given more than enough power, perks, pallets, resources, and windows to prevent that.
All killer mains feel the handicap from the start of each trial. How limited each killer is with their powers, and how punishing it is when you fail to use them effectively.
On the switch side of this, survivors feel it to when they are looping effectively, and watch two or three gens pop within 4 minutes of the match.
It's a vicious cycle. The killer spends the first 3 minutes either setting up his power (trapper) (hag) etc... or chasing that first survivor or 2 at the start when all pallets are up still, and get maybe 3 hooks by the time 2 or 3 gens go. It's at that point you know you winning is unlikely unless it snowballs from a mistake, or you use specific perks that get you a kill at the end (NOED) (BLOODWORDEN) (NO WAY OUT)
so we need to stop calling this game a competition. It's not. Killers need to go in expecting not to 4k bc they are handicapped from the start.
It will help those of you who are stressed when playing some to take this mindset. It's completely understandable to lose as a killer.
