Hexes and Boons, "Just Do Bones": TLDR
Now, I want to start by saying I play both sides and I'm trying to judge this as fairly as possible. However, that's difficult because depending on the side you're saying it to, it almost takes on a completely different meaning.
Now, let's talk about the boons and hexes before I get into "Just do bones." When hexes were introduced they were created to be high risk and high reward. That's still mostly the case today. If your hex breaks, you lose it for the rest of the match. In the case of NOED, there's also the added risk of a totem can't even light as NOED unless there's a remaining dull totem at the end of the match.
Boons, it appeared they wanted to make them also have a feeling of high risk and high reward. You light a boon and as long as you're within range, you gain the effects of it. However, when they created boons, they took out the risk. You lose your boon, you can bring it back. I've had it happen to me in ptb and I've seen videos of it happening to others. You, as the killer, will stomp out the boon and leave. Then you come back around that area shortly after and the boon is back.
Now let's talk about "Just do bones." Although it's harder to know as solo q if someone is already doing bones, there's 4 of you. 1 person, or 2 if the situation calls for it, is not going to destroy the team. Also, if you find a hex, if you eliminate it, it's gone for good. "Just do bones" is a justifiable excuse for dealing with a killer's hex. Now let's look at killers and boons. The killer is already juggling gen pressure and killing survivors. With 4 survivors and only 1 of you, that can be a difficult task and can even be extremely difficult at times. Now you want the only person doing that job to go look for a totem to stomp out just for it to go back up 15 seconds later? Also, there could be up to 3 other boons on the map because every survivor can activate their own boon totem. Sounds like a waste of time and maybe even a free escape. You're not doing your job and no one is doing it for you unlike the survivor side.
Are the boons the most powerful survivor perks in the game? No, they aren't. However, I think it's clear to see that they add an unnecessary secondary objective to the killer side. With hexes, there's a secondary objective for survivors to do, but only 1 survivor has to do the secondary objective while the other 3 are, hopefully, doing something and you don't need to worry about it coming back once the hexes are destroyed. "Just do bones" is justifiable for killers and boons, however you can lose a lot of pressure and gain far less of a reward for doing it then the survivors with hexes.

Okay, Mr. Killer. We get it, you want easy 4k games. Survivors on gens? We are gen rushing and you want us to do something else. Survivors on totems? Too much to keep track of.
Like, are we or are we not supposed to do gens? You should thank me for setting up boons for you to enjoy. I am doing you a favor. And also it stops you from camping, so... That might be the real reason you are concerned. Am I right?
You could have stopped at "it's harder to know as solo q". Because it is, and will keep on being unless a totem counter is made basekit.
