Gearhead

"You've got an ear for well-oiled gears."

  • When injuring a Survivor by any means, Gearhead activates for the next 30/45/60 seconds.
    • Any Generator that has progressed past 50% will have its Aura highlighted in yellow so long as a Survivor is still working on it.
  • The sounds of all Generators and repairs to Generators are increased by 50%/75%/100%.

Why am I suggesting this Change?

First and foremost, Gearhead's requirement to only hit a basic attack is archaic; and considering that most Basic Attack-based Perks are being remade into "any attack" Perks, this would be a suitable enough change.

However, Gearhead is still far too weak to even utilize in any way at any level once people realize its flaws. First and foremost, the requirement to hit someone twice is removed and replaced with just hitting them by any means. This gives Gearhead utility in giving you information on a generator a Survivor is working on at the time.

The second requirement of "good skill checks" is removed since they are based on randomness, something that also heavily hinders the perk. Instead, the requirement to see the primary portion of the Perk is to have any Generator past 50% proc whenever a Survivor is still on it. This gives the Killer a ton of useful information on who is on what Generator and will allow them to plan accordingly, especially against players who separate to do Generators. You can even now prioritize going for a Generator instead of continuing chase for the Survivor just so you can interrupt its progress.

And finally, a nice little buff to it is to simply increase the amount of noise repairs and generators produce. This would be significantly more helpful on indoor maps and maps with multiple floors on them just so you can understand that someone might be on a generator beneath you or nearby, and would really be a decent addition to the perk overall. This doesn't need to be procced by hitting a Survivor whatsoever, so you have more leeway in utilizing Gearhead.

This is what I think would be a fine enough change to a Perk that doesn't see much, if any, use due to its over-reliance on tedious and often times random activation requirements, while also making it a balanced information perk that gives you just enough info, but not too much. It has its own method of giving you information much in the way Surveillance and Discordance do, and would be a nice addition into the Generator information Perk list.
