A brief thought on a potential Ring chapter

I think Sadako/Samara could make for an interesting and powerful killer that could for once genuinely force players to change their playstyle away from 'genrush and loop', as we see it so commonly:

Her ability would be leaving tapes like traps around the map. if a survivors runs over them, they get an invisible counter, ticking down from 7. After the first token the survivors gain the ability to pick up further (active) tapes (not as an icon, just a short message like the 'vault' or 'hide' prompt, and destroy them, resetting the counter.

If they fail to do so, they'll become exposed once the next gen is finished, for the remaining duration of the game until they're hooked.

Further she could use activated tapes as teleport point to go around the map (maybe even turning the tape into a little tv to have her crawl out?) removing the tape (maybe activating a different one, to give survivors another chance of undoing the curse).

  • I want her power to include crawling

maybe if a certain number of sruvs are cursed at the same time she gains the ability to crawl with a speedboost, respectively along walls/ceiling (and like, crawl over the side of dropped pallets or something?)

A fastcrawl over dropped pallets would be really creepy.

  • Further thoughts:

Maybe instead of/in addition to having to run over tapes for the curse to gain toeksn, the first token would activate more skillchecks per repair/heal, a failed one would add another token. 3 tokens would make the skillchecks faster, 5 would make the margin smaller. 7 and the next failed check or popped gen expose the survivor.

(yes, this could be alleviated with perks/addons that increase the skillcheck margin, but would also stack with addons/perks that make the skillchecks more frequent/smaller)

    what do you think?
