Ideas for new characters/perks
Now I’m pretty new to the game but I love it. It’s extremely fun and I think the lore and the characters are very interesting. I’ve been having ideas about new characters and I think these two are the most refined. Now again I’m still fairly new so the perks might be unbalanced or might be redundant with already existing perks. But it’s just a general idea that could be heavily altered to fit the game better. I’m not sure if this is the spot to suggest this or even if the devs will see it, but I was bored and made some new characters.
New killer: The Hessian
New Survivor: Vidar Osmundsson
The Hessian
Backstory:
Otto was born in Hesse-Cassel in the mid-1700s. His family was quite wealthy, and all his ancestors had served as soldiers for as far back as can be traced. It was a family tradition, so Otto too received training and military service. Years later a war broke out in the new world pitting the English against their colonies in the west. They sought experienced soldiers and offered handsome payments for any soldiers willing to join them in their fight. Otto saw this as a chance to prove himself in battle and soon found himself in the midst of the American Revolution.
While marching in the countryside of New York, Otto’s regiment came under ambush by a sizable Yankee force. The sounds of muskets and cannons ripped through the air and the battlefield became blanketed with a layer of thick smoke. While skirmishing with his horse Otto glanced up only to see the flash of a cannon in the distance before everything went blank.
Otto awoke on the ground in a dark and misty forest. It did not look like the battlefield he had just been on. He could hear his horse but could not turn his head to see it. He tried to get up, walk around but it was no use, his body would not move. Out of the corner of his eye he could see a figure approaching. He wore a uniform that looked nearly identical to his. He shouted for help, but the figure had stopped and was just standing there. Otto tried once more to get moving and the figure continued to approach. As he got closer Otto was horrified to see that this man had no head. He screamed in terror and tried to run but the figure began springing towards him and he continued to lay there.
The figure was nearly on top of him now, and all Otto could do was try to brace himself and raise his arms, but again he could not seem to gain control of his body. Upon opening his eyes, the headless figure above him was standing in a defensive position with his arms raised blocking the face he does not have. Otto was confused and started to relax and almost in unison the figure lowered his arms and took on a more relaxed position. Thoughts were racing through Otto’s mind, and he came to the horrid realization that this headless figure was him. In disbelief he tried to raise his right arm above his head and while an arm did not appear above him, the figure raised his right arm. Otto commanded his body to bend over and again it was the figure that obeyed. He picked his head off the ground and made his way to his horse. The revolutionaries severed his head and cursed him to his current form, and he would have his revenge. He would terrorize the east coast of this new "United States" until the tales of a headless horseman suddenly faded away.
Description:
The Hessian is a hulking figure wearing a Hessian uniform worn during the revolutionary war. His head is not on his shoulders however, it is instead hanging from a chain attached to his coat about waist level and looking forward. (This would make the first-person view on the Hessian much lower than other killers and slightly offset to the right/left depending on where it falls on the model. This would also mean the flashlight would need to be aimed at this head instead.) He wields a saber as his weapon.
Abilities:
?: The Hessian used carved pumpkins on his shoulders to terrify his victims, but he found that once he was taken by the entity that he could actually see from them as well. Carved pumpkins spawn all over the map (similar to trapper’s traps). The Hessian can take these pumpkins and place them around the map. Once activated the eyes of the jack o lantern glow and any survivor that comes within a certain medium to long cone from the pumpkin will alert the Hessian and the survivor’s aura will be visible as long as they remain in the cone. The survivors can deactivate the pumpkins (whether through blowing out the candle inside or smashing it) and the Hessian can only place a maximum of 4 pumpkins.
Perks:
Hex: Don’t Lose Your Head: For every rushed action done in your terror radius gain 1 token. Each token increases movement speed and pallet breaking speed by 1% with a maximum of 10%. Hex effects persist as long as the related hex totem is standing.
German Engineering: Hooks are designed better; hook sabotage speed is decreased by 25/35/45% unhook speed is decreased by 10/15/20%.
Heavy Footed: When breaking a generator, it instantly loses 8/12/16 percent of its current progress. (Can only be done once per generator.)
Vidar Osmundsson
Backstory:
Vidar was the son of a Norwegian Earl. He was mostly a farmer but was also a very skilled fighter. A struggle for the English crown was in full-swing and the king of Norway began assembling an army to seize the English throne for himself. Being the son of a noble and a great fighter, Vidar was obligated to join his countrymen in the attack on English shores.
Once the army landed, they made quick work of local defenders and captured the town of York. The main Norwegian army set up camp on the opposite side of a river from York while they waited for supplies. Little did the Norwegian king know, but a large enemy force was marching towards them at an extremely quick pace.
Vidar was with a group of men assigned to guard the bridge. He did not have his armor with him, as most of the men left it on the ships. He was chatting with his fellow soldiers when they heard the thundering sound of an approaching army. A few men were sent across the bridge to warn the main force but Vidar stayed to fight. He knew he would die here, his job was not to win the battle, but to buy his army enough time to assemble so they could win the battle.
The English descended upon the bridge and both sides fought valiantly. The Norwegians were pushed further and further onto the bridge until Vidar was the last man standing. He clenched his massive Dane Axe and swung violently. One by one the English troops approached him and one by one they fell. He was the only thing standing between the English and his unprepared comrades. Enemy after enemy slain in what seems like an eternity. Vidar continued his assault when he felt a sharp jab in his thigh and groin. He looked down to see a spear poking through the boards and thrust into his body. He was dazed, distracted, and overrun by the approaching soldiers. Vidar could only dream of Valhalla as his body fell over the side and into the current.
Vidar awoke in front of a fireplace, soaking wet but seemingly uninjured. There was not even a scar where he had been stabbed. He huddled closer to the fire for warmth and could only see a dark forest in his surroundings. He was not sure if he was alive or dead, but he knew something was not right.
Description:
Vidar is one of, if not the largest survivor in the roster. He has a very long blonde and braided beard. The sides of his head are shaved and on the top is a long braid that reaches his shoulders. He wears a long decorative tunic (as he was a nobleman’s son) and loose fitting trousers. He has leg wrappings that secures the loose end of his trousers and provides slight padding to the calves. He wears leathers shoes and has a cloak draped over his back.
Perks:
Bide for Time: While being chased by the killer, all generator repair progress is increased by 2/4/6 percent. Increases your chance to be the obsession. Boldness category blood points increased by 10%. (or receive tokens based on how long you’ve been chased total and each token increases generator repair speed.)
Viking Strength: Stunning the killer with a pallet will stun them for 10/20/30 percent longer.
Self-Sacrifice: Once at least one exit gate is opened Self-Sacrifice activates. Once activated, all nearby survivors gain a 3/5/7 percent increase in speed and have no (or decreased) breathing or injured sounds. Nearby survivors also have their bloodstains and scratch marks removed/decreased. Vidar however has increased noise and leaves much more distinguishable bloodstains and scratch marks. (this is to make Vidar easier to hunt while making it easier for the other survivors to escape)
Any thoughts?
Comments
While I like the idea, the power of the Hessian and a few perks would need some change. Hessian's ability seems like a worse Trapper due to him requiring set up, only being able to set up a maximum of 4 Pumpkins, and the penalty for being seen by a Pumpkin isn't big enough. As for the perks that need change, Heavy Footed is a worse Pop Goes The Weasel, because it can only be used once per generator and its such a small persentage. Viking Strength seems fine(or very good) , as I'm not sure exactly how long a 30% longer stun was. All in all, good chapter, good Survivor perks, meh Killer perks
