"Mark 5 object with a map"

How do i do this exactly? i almost never use maps so i have no clue

    Just run past them. You'll get an point notification saying its marked, and then you can reveal it with the map.

    Generators are the easiest, but you can also mark other objects such as hooks and totems, provided you have the right addons.
