What Dead by Daylight Needs
Simply put, these are four things that Dead by Daylight needs in its current state, at least in my opinion.
Quickplay's Return
I'll put it very bluntly here, Quickplay needs to return to this game as soon as the new MMR system fully launches and when people start to dislike playing the game because of the new system. It shouldn't matter if this splits the community either; if people want to play a game where they don't have to sweat the entire time, then they should be completely allowed to.
Since Ranked is going to have its own MMR system and Rank Rewards system, as well as going for a significantly more competitive nature, it's easy to see how Quickplay would be more appealing for what will more than likely be a majority of the fanbase.
Now how would I design it? Simple.
Quickplay
- Play as either the Survivor or Killer in 4-v-1 matches against players from around the world!
- Hone your skills or play for fun with other players in these thrilling matches of cat-and-mouse!
- Quickplay does not affect your Rank or MMR in any capacity, and will not grant you any post-season rewards.
When playing Quickplay, due to the lack of end-of-season rewards like Ranked provides, the amount of Bloodpoints earned from Scoring Events and the end-of-match Bloodpoint cap are increased by +50%, allowing you to earn a maximum of 48,000 Bloodpoints per match without Perks or Offerings.
Leaderboards for Ranked
Another feature that would hopefully help push for a Quickplay mode is the addition of Leaderboards for Ranked matches. Since there's going to be an MMR system, this game will obviously need some sort of leaderboard to help determine who is the best Survivor, best Killer or generally best Player in the world, as well as stats for why they're the best.
This would promote the competitive side of the game and help urge people to try out the Ranked mode while keeping the appeal of Quickplay in mind.
All Killers and Survivors Unlocked in Ranked
This should be a very, very obvious thing, but Killers and Survivors need to be unlocked by default in Ranked matches, regardless of if they are licensed or non-licensed. The fact of the matter is that Dead by Daylight is very much so pay-to-win, especially with perks such as Barbecue & Chili, Corrupt Intervention, Hex: Ruin, Pop Goes the Weasel, Lithe, Deliverance, Decisive Strike, and soon both Flashbang and Counterforce.
Overall, if you want a fair competitive game, then all Survivors and Killers need to be able to run who they want in order to succeed. If they cannot, then it won't be fair and the game will definitely be pay-to-win.
If not the Survivors and Killers, then the perks definitely need to be able to be purchased in the Bloodweb by default in Ranked, otherwise you still run into the issue of needing to pay to essentially win in this game.
Speaking of that Bloodweb...
A Better Bloodweb Or an Increased Bloodpoint Capacity
The current Bloodweb is far too archaic and needs an update, especially considering the amount of new Survivors, Killers, Perks and add-ons that are added per update. Even I'm not completely sure how to fix this issue, but I'd probably start with:
- Better pathing for what you want to get.
- Less repeat items in each Bloodweb, thus less overall grind.
- Let Perks just be outright purchasable upwards of Tier III when you get to them (so that you don't have to have them be repeated over and over again).
- Or just overhauling it entirely and letting us use Bloodpoints to buy what we want to buy, no matter what it is, because the Bloodweb is a complete and utter tedious dumpster fire of a concept.
Or maybe just increase the capacity of Bloodpoints to around 2 million to 3 million considering the amount of Killers that're in the game. It's not like this will do much, considering the average player will more than likely spend Bloodpoints after a match anyway, instead of saving up, and that amount of Bloodpoints, in terms of capacity, would not fully ruin the "economy" of this game whatsoever.
Players who just come into this game will more than likely dislike the grindy nature of it and probably shut the game off after a couple days because they don't want to waste their time doing all this tedious stuff.
So yeah, it's better to probably do these for the overall health of the game, lest the playerbase gradually dips because the game starts to become less and less fun overall due to the grind.
