Lore Friendly Spirit Counterplay
There have been a lot of mechanical suggestions of what to do with spirit to make her power more engaging, and lately a large discussion has been going on in the wider community, and its content creators, about Spirit. While they all make really good ideas, I thought about one that may not have been considered entirely.
Ghosts, spirits, poltergeists, and apparitions have often been associated with cold spots, and I thought incorporating this into spirit may be good as a visual cue. Perhaps with the mechanical sound cues that other people have suggested.
Now likely this would probably be coded in the same style of PH's trails, with a different visual look. But the general idea is that when Spirit phases, she begins to apply 'cold' to an area. This visually becomes a frosty type fog that grows thick and heavier the longer she sits in one spot. Now, due to the coloring based on the description this will probably make spirit number 1 on Ormond, but in other, darker maps it should more effectively allow surivors to tell where she is and where she is going if they are paying attention.
I feel this adds a bit more cat and mouse type gameplay as survivors look out for her fog, while she watches for their scratch marks, or listens for their sounds. While not necessarily completely ruining her ability to mind game palettes by still moving around in her power, but simultaneously shutting down that stand still mind game that everyone finds absolutely abhorrent because you can tell theres no frost fog, therefor no power.
In return, however, I feel like Spirit should get killer instinct (when inside her power only, and perhaps a few seconds post phase.) when survivors pass through this trail of cold. This would also give a new avenue for spirit addons that are not necessarily pure power such as speed or recovery, but utility like the passive phasing.
This adds a tiny bit of tracking base kit into her 1v1 killer power which I don't think already established spirits will find much use out of, but may help newer players to DBD in general, and not just spirit. Visual feedback of the fog obviously subject to density/brightness to balance this properly.
