Generator Times! Problem or Not?

Title. Do you think gen speed times are problem or not? And why? And if you think that is problem, how would you fix it? And is this problem affecting your game experince?

Comments

  • Gen speed isn´t the problem. The lack of additional objectives is a problem. Survivors can just spam gens, ignore everything else and escape.

If survivors had additional objectives like gas cans, gen parts and fixing cables, the gen speed wouldn´t be an issue anymore.

  • Eh the time is kind of the problem...

    1 Survivor: 80 secs

    2 Survivors: 47 secs

The time of 2 survivors on 1 gen is kind of unbalanced... It should be just 60 seconds if 2 survivors are working on the same gen

    3 survivors = 47 seconds

    and 4 survivors = 27 seconds

Yup. Repearing generators have to be harder than this. If they would find objects for repeairing, game would be longer and fun. And devs can buff and nerf some killers for balance with that.

I think we all wanna longer and fun games. Losing 3 gens in 2 minutes is really not fun.

Exactly! And add this Prove Thyself + Toolboxes.

  • Gen speeds shouldn't be changed itll make generators more boring

The problem is map design, map sizes are too big for the killer to control the gens.

Coal tower is a good example of a good map size, so is Father Campbells Chapel imo.

  • Gen speeds aren't a problem, map size and game start is a problem. Against good teams, without corrupt it's common for 3 gens to pop by the time the killer gets their first hook.

Losing 3 gens in start and defending last 2 gens is boring and stressful for killers, that also have to change. When survivors ignoring all other objectives gens finishing so fast. That is not healthy game design. That is reason of killers leaving this game.

  • If you play with soloQ survivors, they take half an eternity to finish. If you play with SWF, they pop in 15 seconds, starting with the intro animation. So I guess it would be fair to increase gen repair time to at least 120 seconds if the survivors are in SWF. SWF should be a separate mode with separate rules for them.

No the problem is not swf. Good survivor without comms also dont waste time and do gens at the start. With good survivor the only difference is that they always know which gen has progress and another survivor finishes it if the killer interrupts.

Its just a huge difference with bad survivor. Normally they would waste time with hiding, chests etc. But when you are on comms you cant say: hey im doing nothing right now, so they are forced to be productive. And they hide less bc they know that someone else gets chased.

If you now make gens longer there many problems. Many swfs are just bad and have no chance. Good swfs will have no chance against top tier killer. And good solos will still dominate.

If you make it so that 2 survivor are slower, then more survivor would realize that spreading out is the best tactic. And then you would always lose 3 gens at the start.

  • Yes, they are. A dedicated team can finish all of them in mere minutes against the best Nurse.

I'd fix it by replacing the hold-a-button system with part fetching and the like, so as to force potential interactions, lower the gap between mobile and standard killers, and make the whole thing a lot less boring for survivors.
