The "Nemesis - Pyramid Head" comparison.
So, I've seen a couple people saying that these two killers are very similar, to the point of calling Nemesis a reskin of PH. I'd like to make some comparisons between the two. (I may have a very evident bias, by the way.)
Let's start with the ranged attack:
PUNISHMENT OF THE DAMNED:
Can consistently shoot through walls, making it a good attack for people good at prediction due to the survivors being unable to see you.
Very easy to dodge, meaning it's only really good for animation locks, prediction shots and situations where the survivor doesn't have any room to dodge.
Slows you down to 110% movespeed, so you can still keep pace with the survivor in most loops, and also leaves Torment Trails on the ground, giving you some benefit when it's readied.
Takes about 1.5 seconds to unready.
Downs survivors in two hits.
Can have increased range massively from the start of the trial by add-ons, but cannot be increased in any other way.
Cooldown after making an attack is about 2.5 seconds.
Locks the camera vertically and makes turning all janky.
Can attack from the tops of ramps and stairs, but not the bottom.
Can't go over holes in the floor.
TENTACLE STRIKE:
Can sometimes hit over waist high walls and windows, and survivors can see you the whole time.
Only about half a meter wide, making it incredibly easy to dodge if the survivor can move at all.
Seems to slow you down to 100% speed or less, which, combined with Nemesis's wide hitbox, makes looping virtually impossible without Bloodlust or Play With Your Food, or you could just not use your chase power.
Takes about 2 seconds to unready.
Downs survivors in three hits.
Range cannot be increased by add-ons, instead can get a minor increase (about 2 meters) in Infection Rate 3.
Cooldown after making an attack is about 2 seconds.
Locks camera vertically.
No verticality whatsoever.
Can go over holes in the floor.
So, kinda similar, but one is clearly designed as a primary power as opposed to a secondary one. Let's move on to the area control power:
RITES OF JUDGEMENT:
Can be placed down at a loop to dissuade survivors from staying there for much longer.
Excellent on indoor maps, and averagely effective outdoors.
Applies Torment to survivors, but doesn't do much else other than give information.
Can be strategically placed so that survivors have to run through them.
Gives brief but precise information on survivors' locations with visual and auditory cues.
Can be useful pretty much wherever you put it down.
Survivors avoid this ######### like it's the actual plague.
ZOMBIES:
Have a small chance of walking to the loop that you're at, and a smaller chance of actually stopping or hitting the survivor.
Excellent on indoor maps, terrible outdoors.
Infect survivors on the first hit, but can injure and down survivors on subsequent ones, and can be killed for Infection Rate.
Can be used to corral survivors into deadzones and unsafe loops, and can harass survivors away from objectives.
Give you a general idea where survivors are and can assist you in a chase.
Get stuck on pretty much everything.
Survivors make fun of them. Deservingly.
As is evident, these two powers are completely different in both form and function, even though they both exist for detection, pressure, and debuff application. Speaking of which, lets look at those debuffs in question.
TORMENT:
Gives constant and very noticeable visual information in the form of barbed wire coiling and writhing around and behind their feet at all times.
Allows Pyramid Head to bypass the entire hooking phase and gives him an Ebony Mori as basekit if used right.
Can only be removed by freeing someone from the Cage Of Atonement or being freed from said cage, which tells the killer where you are.
contaminated:
Changes the color of survivor clothes and causes them to cough and vomit intermittently, making it a worse version of the Plague's infection.
Allows Nemesis's other powers to have any effect whatsoever.
Can only be removed by opening killer specific chests and collecting the vaccine, and using the vaccine triggers Killer Instinct and applies debuffs if Nemesis is using the right add-ons.
And here are some random advantages and disadvantages that these killers have that don't relate to their powers:
PYRAMID HEAD:
Can't be blinded while searching lockers.
Actually considered scary (to an extent), partially because of his awesome music.
Awesome music
Sword is hard to dodge due to its "size" (despite the fact that all weapons have the exact same hitbox).
NEMESIS:
Hard to run/DH past due to large hitbox.
Bodyshame spots are a lot more common. Because of his large hitbox.
Slightly easier to loop, due to the wide hitbox.
Feels incredibly slow due to the raised camera.
So, in the end, I think these two killers are different enough that you can't exactly call Nemesis a "reskin" of Pyramid Head. They both have different strengths and weaknesses, and each has their own unique playstyle.
This post was brought to you by Konami and RAID: Shadow Legends.
EDIT: made this post readable.
Comments
They have similar powers - a powerful short-range attack and secondary effect. Them, and Demogorgon (portals).
So if anything, they're both reskins of Demogorgon. (Clearly they're not, but still.)
And so what if they we're ,who gives a ######### there power works can down survivors, They look awesome doing it and Nemesis has f zombies.Guess people are never satisfied. Oh plus and the f map is coolest map we have oh wait also Jill Valentine and Leon.I swear. I dropped some complaints when Pyramid Head came but that's only because, I heard they we're nerfing Pyramid Head.
