Can’t escape

I opened up the one gate and I waited for the other players to escape with me but only one could escape and the rest of us were sacrificed because the gate wouldn’t let us leave. I tried going to the other gate and I still couldn’t escape. As soon as the match ended I got kicked off the game.
it has happened only twice.

What do you mean "wouldn't let you leave"? Can you be more specific about what actually happened, did the killer have Blood Warden or something?
